One of the Better Metallic PLAs I’ve Used
Metallic filaments are always kind of a gamble. Sometimes they look great in product photos and then print looking like slightly shiny plastic once you actually use them. Other times they’re difficult to print, brittle, or clog constantly. This filament honestly surprised me in a good way. It actually does a pretty convincing job of giving prints a metallic appearance, especially under good lighting. No, it’s not going to fool someone into thinking it’s real metal, but compared to a lot of metallic PLAs I’ve tried, this has much more depth and a nicer sheen instead of just looking like regular plastic with glitter mixed in. What impressed me most is how easy it has been to print with. I didn’t have to fight with weird extrusion issues, excessive stringing, or poor layer adhesion. It printed cleanly right away and behaved much more like a standard PLA than some specialty metallic filaments I’ve used in the past. I liked this color enough that I also picked up the gold version and have been happy with both. They’re great for props, display pieces, decorative prints, cosplay details, and anything where you want a more premium or metallic look without dealing with the headaches some specialty filaments can bring. Overall, this feels like one of the rare metallic filaments that actually delivers the look people are hoping for while still being pleasant to print with.

Prints beautifully, consistently right out of the box
Absolutely love this stuff! Have gone through several rolls of both blue and gold with my Bambu Lab X1C with zero issues -- and I mean NONE -- straight out of the box. No clogging, no stringing, no tangling. It prints beautifully using a generic PLA silk profile and required almost no postprocessing. Attached are pics of a pencil holder from Makerworld that I did a few days ago that shows both colors. Just ordered a bunch of silver for an upcoming project and will update this review if somehow it fails to impress, but I don't expect I'll need to do that. Obviously some people have different experiences, but I get extremely consistent results across multiple orders and batches without doing anything other than opening the package, loading the filament, and using a known-good profile for silk PLA, so it suggests any problems lie with other people's equipment and/or practices rather than the filament itself. YMMV.

Full of moisture.... lots of bubbles!
I tried this straight out of the sealed package. It looks great in the spool and I checked a few spots and they all came out to pretty close to 1.75. So, the accuracy is pretty good. What sucks and I hope Amazon changes if they keep selling this is that it has one tiny desiccant packet inside of the sealed package. I don't think this is enough. It either needs to be dried more thoroughly at the factory or they need to put a large or a few large desiccant packets in the package. Right off the bat I got a ton of popping, bubbles. I rarely have this happen, maybe I'm lucky, but when it does I stop and I put it in my diy airtight bucket with a fan inside and a ton of desiccant. Normally one or two days is enough of this and whatever filament I put in there is very dry and works very well. I did the same with this and took it out today. It actually sat for a little more than today. Fresh desiccant in the bucket. I'm still getting popping but not nearly as much. I think it's still has moisture I think it's still has I think it's still has too much moisture so back in the bucket it goes and I'm probably going to leave it there for up to a week. The color very slightly based on the temperature and speed. It's kind of interesting. It doesn't really resemble copper unless you're looking at it under a daylight lamp or sunlight but in either of those conditions It looks pretty good. I might buy more try another brand when I run out of this. I would probably give it four and a half for five stars if it wasn't for the moisture problem. For the record I had a different filament dryer but it didn't actually seem to work very well and I'm currently building a fish tank shaped glass and aluminum sealed chamber that uses, unfortunately expensive, solid state dehumidifiers. I think I'll be doing this for a while so it's kind of like solar in my mind, it'll take a while to pay off those solid state dehumidifiers but not having to buy new desiccants or dry what I have to reuse it is also going to save me time and money. I hope they get more popular and the price comes down and more people can go this route.

Kind of pricey material but it looks nice
Nice and semi shiny silk PLA works and looks pretty nice. I used it on my R2-D2 and it looks great. This filament is kind of pricey when compared to most other filament brands I buy which are typically $20/roll or less. But I wanted something that would shine and this filament was the ticket.

Good gold silk filament
I purchased this filament for the ring 3-D model project of mine. I printed flawlessly on my A1 bamboo lab printer. I would recommend drying them though for at least six hours so that the result can come out perfect as I have noticed slight stringy when it is moist or if you live in an area where the environment has high humidity. I would definitely purchase more of the Amazon basic gold silk in the future for my project needs.

Great alternative when less sheen is required
I usually go for GeeeTech silks when I want to fully replicate the look of real metal. For a recent print, I wanted something slightly less metallic, and this fit the bill perfectly. Print quality was perfect, and the price was also a lot lower. “Not as metallic” might sound like a criticism, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Bought this for my son. He said it worked perfectly for his needs and he will be getting more when it runs out. The price fair, the quality was great and it arrived quickly. Will definitely order again.
