Can anyone advise me what size to get? I am a single guy and rarely cook for more than two but sometimes do.

Personally, if I were still a single guy cooking for two (you always have to account for a date), I might consider getting one of the smaller sizes. But we got the 4.5 quart model, because it's the perfect size to bake amazing artisan bread as described in books like Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast by Ken Forkish. If you want to impress somebody (anybody, not just a date - even yourself), try baking one of the breads in that book in this pot.

China. So what exactly does Dutches strict quality control consist of? If Dutch can't publish any safety data or testing in regards to lead or cadmium , then I won't buy this. Controversy emerged about the potential of lead and cadmium leaching from even high-end brands of porcelain enamel, let alone stuff from China. I also find it hard to believe companies in the USA can not apply porcelain enamel to cast iron.

what is the baking temperature for this dutch oven?

Description says it's oval, not round, and says 1.5 Qt in one line and 1.5 litres in another. What are the dimensions of the 1.5 Qt dutch oven?

Is the 4 quart large enough for pot roast compared to the 6 quart. I am looking at the weight when full to be able to lift it.

It really depends on how many people you are cooking for. The 4 qt works for me because I don't have a large family to feed and it is lighter than the 6 quart. I don't have very much strength in my arms, so it works for me.
