Much more functional to keep tea hot while sitting and you don't lose heat during pours than if you popped off and on a hooded style tea cozy every pour. Protects your hands from a hot teapot too when you have to steady it when tipping it. I have several in this style and was only too glad to find this for my granddaughter when I gave her her first teapot. Very inexpensive too for everyday use. For washing up if it gets dirty it has a good quality zipper pouch to remove the wooden pressboard bottom insert.
