I have 2012 honda cr-v. i can’t get the key in the piece the holds it. any suggestions?

I have a 2007 CRV. Mine did not snap in the case. There are tiny slots on the back part that I had to slide the black key holder into. It’s like sliding a cabinet drawer back in. It does not tell you that in the instructions. One side of the key holder was more slanted in my case. After I got it going right, no problem.
