I have had my eye on it. The need for a soldering iron came up so I got this three-tool kit, which is a great deal. I have not used the other two tools yet, but I did use the soldering iron. I am a beginner at soldering. I had a cheap iron many years ago and learned basics making a couple of projects. This one feels SO much nicer. I watched the temperature change on the display which feels like such a luxury. I replaced some capacitors on a speaker I have. I noticed that the iron takes a while to melt the non-leaded OEM solder used in factory even at max temperature. 900°F is theoretically hot enough, but I suspect the conical tip that comes by default may not have been the most effective shape to distribute the heat for my situation. This isn't really a flaw but i want to give a heads up if you intend to use this for soldering electronics. After removing the factory solder, it worked easily and beautifully when I used my own leaded solder at a lower temp. Battery came half charged, but it gave me enough time to do most of the job even with me going kinda slow. When it ran out I switched it for the battery that came with my Worx cordless drill and it was plenty. I can't imagine this will let you work all day, but it seems great for more casual use. I really like this set. The tools are so compact and light. It's portability is impressive. I can use these for most any project i need im sure. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great, if flawed line of power tools *by F***N on November 16, 2023* This is a general review of the Maker-X line and this particular set. I am leaving more detailed reviews for the tools on their individual tool listings. The price for the set, about $110 on sale, is a decent price for everything included. Remember that there is normally a "premium" to pay for decent battery-powered tools. Buying the tools and a charger and battery and controller all separately would push the price for everything in this set close to the $200 price range. I am a fan of this line of tools, even with the flaws. Since originally getting this set, I have also purchased the mini blower and rotary cutter and their hand-vac not part of the line. Who might want this line? People with very limited space and a use for a variety of smaller sized tools. Those who travel and do arts and crafts shows/fairs and/or public demos. The Battery - My biggest complaint is this is a set of 3 tools and it comes with 1 battery, so go ahead get at least one more. The performance of the battery is as good as can be expected. The Controller - The power and speed control of this line is pretty good. I like it. I have found the cord to be a good length, long enough for easy use and not too long as to get in the way. The overall quality is not bad. The connector fits snuggly and securely in the tools. I haven't had any issues with it. Though for the price they charge for the controller separately, I think they should all have the belt clip included only on the upgrade version that also has a USB charging port. The Rotary Tool - This tool has been a pleasant surprise. The biggest flaw is the auto-shutdown feature to help protect the motor from burning out. It works great as long as you use a light touch. Let speed and the bits, burs and wheels do the work. It is compatible with Dremel accessories like router attachment and the grinding shield/deflector. It only comes with 1/8" collet. Using this much more than I originally expected. The Wood & Metal Tool (aka Soldering Tool) - Very functional tool. Portable, battery powered soldering iron that works well. This has replaced my nice butane heated iron. The Mini Angle Grinder - Limited usefulness due to auto-shutdown feature that is protection from burning out the motor. Like the Rotary tool, must be used with a light touch. I would be much happier with it if the auto-shutdown feature was a tad less sensitive. Blade guard has very small adjustment range. All in all, for the money this is a great little set of tools. They sell this set without the angle grinder for almost the same price, so you might as well grab the one with the extra tool. I wished they sold a kit with 2 batteries.
