A genuine product that works well and is well made.
My past experience with HT's is that regardless of the make or the model, the stock antenna is usually mediocre at best. So I bought this antenna from BaoFengTech to go on my new BaoFeng UV-82HP also purchased from BaoFengTech. It is worth noting that there are a lot of low-cost fake Nagoya antennas out there. How well they work...I don't know...I'd rather spend a little more and get the real thing that works the first time than mess around with something that may or may not work. I'm pleased to note that this one passes all the tests that a genuine Nagoya antenna should. This is a nicely made antenna that fits the UV-82HP very well and includes a little spacer washer in case the fit is a little loose. I didn't need to use it, but its a nice touch that shows Nagoya tested it across a range of HT's. It is a bit thicker than I'm used to on an HT antenna - it's over 1/8" thick, but I find this to be a nice feature, as when moving the HT with the Nagoya antenna on it...the antenna doesn't flop around and try to beat you up like the strip of bacon in the Tums vs. Bacon commercial like some of the thinner replacement HT antennas. ;) Performance of this antenna is better than the stock UV-82HP antenna...but it is really hard to quantify how much better. At my office with the stock antenna, it was hard to keep the squelch open on the weather service (162.400 MHz) with the stock antenna. When I put on the Nagoya, there were no issues keeping the squelch open. While 162.400 is far from the amateur bands that the Nagoya is spec'ed for, it should be an indicator that the Nagoya will be a bit stronger on transmit. I'm very happy with this antenna, with the UV-82HP, and with BaoFengTech. Very strong value here.

The real deal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The Nagoya NA-771 15.6-inch whip is a big improvement over the standard "rubber duck" antenna that came with my Baofeng BF-F8HP radio. A quick note: This review is based on subjective assessment without equipment to measure gain/SWR/directivity/efficiency/etc./etc. So, my assessment is based on apparent/perceived signal strength and comms clarity. There are so many knock-off Nagoya antennae out there that it can be a little tricky to ensure that you're purchasing an authentic one. When this antenna arrived from Baofeng Tech, I checked the packing and antenna for features/characteristics identifying a genuine Nagoya product (all checked out). This is the genuine article. In retrospect, I wish I had taken some pictures to share. This is a well-built antenna that fits snugly on my BF-F8HP with good contact for apparently strong signal and clear RX/TX. I purchased it because I was frustrated by the poor clarity of comms cutting out at terrible range with the original antenna on my radio while paragliding. It seemed like the darned thing would lose signal across a football field if a bug flew in the way. I was not happy. With the NA-771, the apparent signal strength and clarity at significantly increased range is now dramatically improved! Nice clear communication for the range at which I've used it so far, which has been up to a few thousand meters (couple miles), either line-of-sight or few obstructions (seeing as we're in the air) ...provided that the person on the other end has decent equipment, of course. I'll update the review if/when distance or obstructions increase significantly. With the radio stored in a backpack, the antenna has to curve a fair bit to fit, which it does quite easily. There's also still enough rigidity that it returns to being pretty close to straight when removed from the pack. It's also flexible enough that when I have the radio on a chest harness, the last several inches of the antenna curve over the front portion of my shoulder to sit nicely without getting in the way in flight or on the ground. While it didn't turn my little BF-F8HP radio into a top-of-the-line unstoppable transmission beacon, the vast improvement over the standard antenna is definitely worth the very affordable cost. If/when purchasing a Baofeng radio, I'd recommend adding a NA-771 to your cart at the same time. You'll be glad you did. *A note about the seller (Baofeng Tech): Wow! Great attention to customer service! After receiving the item, I got a follow-up message/email from their Support Department to make sure the order arrived and everything was good, as well as an offer to contact them with any questions. They did the same when I ordered a BTECH QHM22 speaker/mic from them. Thanks Katy! I HIGHLY recommend doing business with Baofeng Tech!

This is going to work great when I get bold enough to use it.
Using this antenna, I am able to get a "ping" from 4 local GMRS repeaters. I have a GMRS license, but have not been bold enough to join a conversation yet! LOL

Outstanding Antenna Upgrade - Dramatic Improvement in Reception
I upgraded to this Nagoya NA-771 antenna from the stock rubber duck that came with my BaoFeng radio, and the difference in performance is absolutely night and day. The reception quality improved dramatically - I'm now able to hit repeaters that were previously completely out of range, and local simplex contacts are much clearer with significantly less static. The 15.6-inch length provides excellent reach without being so long that it becomes unwieldy or catches on everything. The flexibility of the whip design means it bends rather than breaks when it bumps into things, which has already saved me from potential damage several times. The SMA-Female connector fits my radio perfectly with a solid, secure connection. The build quality of this genuine Nagoya antenna is impressive and you can immediately tell it's a quality product compared to the cheaper knockoffs on the market. The antenna feels durable and well-constructed, and I have confidence it will hold up to regular use in the field. Whether I'm using it for emergency communications, ham radio operations, or just monitoring local traffic, this antenna has exceeded my expectations in every way. The improvement in both transmit and receive performance makes this one of the best upgrades you can make to any BaoFeng or BTECH radio. For the modest price, this is an absolute must-have accessory that transforms your handheld radio's capabilities.

Nice genuine NA-771 antenna
As far as I can tell, the antenna I received is a 100% genuine Nagoya NA-771 antenna. I used the guidance at Nagoya's How-to-identify-the-genuine-and-fake-antenna web-page and the item I received matches all the examples for a genuine antenna and sleeve - the printing is good, the sleeve bag is good and the antenna came with a spacer o-ring. I don't have the equipment to test whether it behaves as it should, but when I connected it to my UV-5R handset I was able to receive signals at a fair range, better I think than the stock antenna (but I didn't test it super-hard before switching to the NA-771 full-time).
