Fjallraven Kanken No. 2 Backpack, Black

This is a beautiful backpack, with high quality construction and stitching that I have come to expect from Fjallraven products (I currently own the Totesack and the Foldsack models). However, I decided to return this product and order the Kanken No. 2 15" Laptop model. The main difference is that the Laptop model features padded straps and a dedicated laptop compartment in the back. However, I think this backpack is great option if you are not planning to use it to carry a laptop very often OR just carry a small tablet or similar. I felt that the straps may be slightly uncomfortable with heavier contents, but that was just my own observation. I would not hesitate to recommend this backpack, but would also encourage considering the Laptop version for a few dollars more if you plan to carry one often.

My favorite purse I’ve ever owned are the fjallraven backpacks. This backpack is perfect for my life as a working mom. Big enough for adventures, classic enough for the grocery store. Water resistant, lightweight, and durable. Better than the cheaper versions. I will always buy these backpacks.

I love this backpack! It is just the right size for school. I typically keep up to 2 notebooks, a book, a planner, a small pencil pouch, and a water bottle and it all fits perfectly! It seems small, but it actually holds a lot. I love how it comes with a little cushion you can take out and sit on. The little pocket in the back of the backpack is perfect for a laptop. The front pocket holds a lot too. The only thing about this backpack is that the two pockets on the sides aren't really big enough for most reusable water bottles, but that's okay. I also wish the straps were a little longer, as i am 5'10" and this is pretty short on me. Overall it is a great buy and the materials are sturdy, so it is well worth the $90.

I always thought the red logo on white background looks a bit tacky, so when I saw this one with a more subtle logo color, I ordered it right away. I have seen the bag in real life and how it will fit me. I got a navy color and it is a little bit lighter than what Amazon posted. I thought it would be so dark resembling black, but it is actually a very rich dark navy blue which I prefer. I love the overall color of the bag and how retro it looks. The handles and trimmings are leather which feels really nice to touch. It's a bit pricey, but this is a backpack that I plan to use for a long time.

Overall I love the look of this backpack, which helps me overlook some of its small annoyances: the zippers are underneath cloth, not exposed which can make it hard to locate the zippers when you are in a hurry. Overall I wish it were bigger, esp the water bottle holders on the sides but what can you do. I am pregnant and just bought it with the intent of using it as a diaper bag because most diaper bags are crazy ugly but so far I have just been using it for snacks, water, and self care items because I hate purses. I haven't had any unstitching or manufacturing problems like other reviewers. The color black is super cute but it does get dusty and gross looking on the bottom if you set it down a lot outside.

Great size for airplane travel.

I embroider Fjallraven Kankens for my Etsy shop, I am always impressed with the quality of the Kanken No 2. especially with the brown leather, it is really a beautiful bag and canvas for embroidery! The seat pad is much nicer than the normal kankens and the quality overall feels worth the price difference.

In all the photos, my bag is actually a shade lighter than the amazon photos. This book bag has held up very very good. I use it to carry my 15 inch macbook pro with retina. It fits exactly in the back pocket. I don't suggest using it to carry this big of a laptop but it does work. Just need to be care when you place your book bag down. The material is amazing. Its slightly wards off water but if you buy some bee wax, you can make it more water proof.
