It all seems to depend on the configuration of your specific ear canal. The purpose of the dome is to "seal" the space around the outer edge of the hearing aid as it sits in your ear canal, and we are all different in that regard. That is the reason hearing aid companies will normally send at least 4 or 5 different size and types of domes along with the hearing aid that you may decide to purchase. When the hearing aid arrives, the wearer just has to try each one and also adjust and readjust power ranges with each until, hopefully, one combination will give the performance that it desired. With my most recent hearing aid purchase, NONE of the domes that came with the hearing aid would work with my ear. I could not get rid of the feedback squeal, no matter which one of the provided domes I tried. Finally, I decided to try the dome from an old, discarded hearing aid which had stopped working, and THAT one works for me!! It can be a real frustrating experience to find the dome that will work for you, but try to have patience.
