I have added a number of tracks to my kayak to secure different items to the hull, and have always used these wonderful items. Stainless, so they don't rust, they are easy to use, and with a bit of silicone on the threads I have not experienced leaks. These are an invaluable item for adding things to your kayak. I've had the kayak for about 5 years now, haven't had any of these pull out or anything; no problems with them. Review: Worked for mounting a Subaru Forester front license plate holder - I ordered these for an entirely different non boating use, attaching a license plate holder to a 2018 Subaru Forester front bumper using the factory holes (which are sized for Japanese or European standards) because the holder's included mounting adapters were terrible. These well nuts just *barely* fit through the holes with a bunch of twisting, and the screws were a little too big for the holes on the holder. Fortunately the holder is plastic and I had a Phillips head screwdriver on hand to ream them out a bit. No more missing front plate! If you're doing the same, you might look for M6 size for easier installation. The well nuts themselves seem to be very good quality, they held up well to me holding them and repeatedly twisting back and forth to squeeze them through too-snug holes. What is the thickness of this flange. What is the over all length of the well nut** A: All I can tell you is don't use the size drill bit they say! Use a size smaller or it will pull out easily!!!! **Q: Will these work good for mounting handles on my kayak? Worried about them ripping off when I pick it up.** A: I used them for this exact purpose. Haven't had any problems after stressing the connections pretty heavily several times (lifting the kayak and and off of the car for several trips). However, I used 4 nuts for each handle, so you would need two of these packages to secure two handles. **Q: Can these be used to secure a sending unit in a plastic gas tank?** A: I will rather not take the chance. It might work, it will keep the meter unit in place but what long-lasting effect of fuel/gasoline is on the neoprene material is unknown. To err on the safe side, I personally will not. Exactly what I was needing. *by B***K on June 21, 2025* These worked exactly as expected! I have a slightly lifted 4x4 pickup and ever since one of my high school students received a ticket for not having mudflaps I fear that I'm on borrowed time, as I do not have mudflaps on my own pickup. My truck has oversized wheels and tires and I have fender flares that cover the top, but they don't protect anyone behind me from small stones, snow, and water spray. I know that I should have considered all this four years ago when I installed the wheels and tires. OK, back to the mudflaps and these well nuts. My flares are anchored directly to my truck with four to five screws each, but when I move the mudflaps outward to cover the full width of the tire there isn't any metal to fasten to. My solution, questionable as it may be, is to add one more screw mounting the flare to the truck and getting one, or two screws through the flap, flare and into the steel fender. Then I use two, or three of these well nuts to anchor the flap to the flare. I'm not sure how it'll hold up to Utah snow yet in forward, or reverse, but once I tightened up the four mudflap I stood up slapped the bedside of my truck and loudly proclaimed "well that ain't going anywhere".
