This chip is a beast for the price. You can get more powerful CPUs, but 99% of people won't need that. My PC starts without revealing the little spin loading screen. Games don't challenge this CPU at all (my GPU is another matter entirely). I also do analysis work in R and the 5600x is insane at running my scripts. My computer is quick and snappy and I love it. Two points to keep in mind: this is the last generation on the AM4, which means if you buy a motherboard for this processor it will not be able to work with future AMD chips. If you want that future proofing, perhaps wait until the next generation to come out (but know that this processor is fast enough that it's future proof on it's own too). Second, I'll note that the included cooler is fine. Not great at cooling and not the quietest, but it's fine. If you are really into gaming, consider replacing it sooner than later - but otherwise you can take your time if you need. That's why I gave it 4 stars for warmth - it's not the CPU, but the cooler I'm hitting here. To wrap up - this is a significant upgrade for ANY 2+ year old CPU, and it also destroys most 1 year old CPU's (if you're, you know, crazy enough to replace something so new). At $300, it's a very good deal. UPDATE: The i5-11600k released in March 2021. It is not a better chip, but the difference is small that you may not notice. And it's a bit cheaper. Some outlets are calling it the value king at the moment. Another point is that the i5 comes with integrated graphics (the CPU can output a visual signal to your screen directly), and does not require dedicated graphics card (GPU: a specific chip that does the visual rendering and outputting). Buy this 5600X and you will HAVE to secure a GPU, which is expensive and very difficult in early 2021. For those reasons, I would also consider the i5-11600k, even though it is less powerful than this 5600X (and uses more electricity). Note: getting an i5 would require you to have a different motherboard (chipset), because it is intel. 1. Buy AMD 5600X if: you already have a GPU, want the more powerful CPU, and want a lower electricity usage 2. Buy Intel i5-11600K if: you don't mind a small speed decrease, wish to save a bit ($265 vs. $300 as of this update), and if you DO NOT HAVE A GRAPHICS CARD.

Great cpu the cooler it comes with is pretty good never goes above 92 and doesn’t bottleneck my gpu and with a 3060 can play most games 1080p high with at least 60fps

On AM4 Asrock x370 Taichi BIOS 10.5 PBO -30 Rock solid! Idles at 32c at 25c ambient. Noctua D15 v1. Paired with a 6950xt and 16gig ram.

This is my first AMD chip (I've built probably 15 computers over the last 10 years and always used Intel chips) and I like it. It's very overpriced, but that's the market today and the Intel chips are too. I didn't buy it for gaming, so I can't comment on that. I just got it because I felt that it was offering more than the similarly-priced Intels were and I wanted to give it a shot. In general, it works fine, but I'm not a gamer and most people buying this chip will be buying it for that, so this review won't help them. I'm happy with it, but there are a few things I don't like that I will mention: I have done everything I can to limit it running high when not needed and yet, with 6 cores, and the machine at idle, it won't run any slower than 1720 MHz, and I don't understand why it won't throttle down more. I'm used to Intel chips that will drop down to ~800 MHz at idle and use very little power, and run very cool. To be fair, I'm comparing this to a 10-year-old Core i5-2400, which was a terrific chip and remains so. Further, using a Cooler Master 212 cooler with 2 fans, it never spun them up to more than about 800 RPM, and the CPU rarely got about 30 C. This chip, with the current EVO V2 generation cooler with 2 fans(which incidentally, is a JOY to install compared to the older models, which really needed 3 hands), never drops below 35-36C no matter how little it's running. I realize that the Intel Sandy Bridge series (the 2000 series) was one of the best-cooling chips Intel has made and I'm not bashing AMD here - as Intel has never cooled again quite as well as they did (IMO) with the 2nd gen Core series. But what does strike me is that while this chip can go much faster than my old i5-2400 system (which is still working just fine, but it's 10 years old and I wanted to build a replacement before the day when something went wrong, and I didn't want to move from win 7 to 10 on that old one) and has 6 rather than 4 cores, when I do CPU-dependent video conversions, this chip is only slightly faster than the 2400. And both are using the highest-end Samsung drives I can get, and on this system are attached to PCIe 4 connectors. I'm sure gaming is a different story, but when I bought this chip it was about $300 and I bought an ASUS X570 board to run it on, and both were overkill for my needs. (Though that ASUS has loads of SSD capacity which is why I selected it.) As I'm not a gamer, I might have been better off stepping down on the CPU.

I have been looking for this CPU for a while and decided to finally take the plunge to purchase. Delivery was quick and this CPU was very easy to install and the benefit of this retail model was the inclusion of a fan. The fan inclusion saved me some $$ to be used on other upgrades (granted not a huge saving). Running this on a Win10 Home edition build and currently no issues, solid thus far. The CPU also included TPM which almost all Win-based modern CPU should have, (I upgraded from a 4th generation Intel based CPU - which did not have TPM) this is a key requirement for Win 11 (and yes you can get a separate TPM module for legacy systems to upgrade to Win 11). Overall very happy with this CPU

After suffering for more than 7 months of constant out-of-stocks and price gouges, we've finally entered a cooling phase that will probably only last for a short while and then go back to status quo and then come back here again. Although I'm not really gonna laugh my way to the bank, because it took more than 7 months to reach this low, and my friends had gotten theirs for a slightly higher price back then.
