I really don't know. This is for my son and he thinks it's fantastic.
This was for my son, who's a trucker. He loves it! All alerts go to his phone and stores them.

Great camera, crappy app.
Good camera - I've gotten 3 of the and they do seem to just work. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the app and connection design - you can only connect to one camera (so if you have multiple cars you switch between in a family, you have to individually reconnect each time - this is a major shortfall of these protect your family cars). But the camera and in-car connections themselves are good and do just work. I have rear cameras and the hardwire kit and it wasn't hard to install with a friend who has some basic car trim experience.

Buyer Beware
I bought the Nextbase 4K 622GW dashcam from BestBuy on May 31st 2024 for my & my wife's cars, along with the hardwire kits, fast microSD cards, and Geek Squad installation for about $1000 all told. First the good: the cameras worked great, video quality on the high-res videos was excellent, video quality on the low-res files was actually pretty good. All the other camera functions (GPS, What 3 Words, etc) worked fine. From there it all goes downhill. The app is kludgy, wi-fi & USB connection to the camera was buggy & unreliable, but connecting the microSD card directly to my laptop worked OK. We've noticed lately that both our cameras now don't hold a charge when not mounted to the in-car mount, but they still work when mounted. All acceptable until today. My wife's camera has died, and refuses to turn on under any circumstances. I attached the microSD card to my laptop & discovered that, as has been documented by others, the files on the card have been re-dated back to 2020. Some have been corrupted so as to be unreadable. At the time of purchase, I had read lots of reviews here & on Amazon, and the vast majority of negative reviews were years old, so I took that as a sign that Nextbase made a reliable unit. However I'm now seeing lots of reviews from folks whose units have died like this one after 18 months. I guess I'm lucky I got 22 months out of this one. The one in my car is still working correctly, but I expect it to die soon to join it's mate. BTW my local Geek Squad did a fabulous job of installing the hardwire kit. I give the unit 4 stars for build quality, image resolution & other functions, but deduct 3 stars for the crappy app and complete failure after less that 2 years of ownership. If you buy this unit, BE SURE to get an extended warranty. I guarantee you'll need it.

Not real 4K recording
I ordered this 622GW dashcam based on few reviews. But it's quality is not as per expectation. 1. During initial setup it started showing to upgrade firmware from 10.X to 11.x. It was getting stuck for few hours every time i tried to upgrade. Took me few days to even start using it after firmware upgrade after multiple try. But still i will rate app higher for easy connect to dashcam. 2. I have Number Plate recognition setting on and Image stabilization on, it can read number plates in broad daylight but not in evening and night. 3. Video is not always recorded in 4K, It is storing 480p and 4K alternatively for 1 min each by default. And few 4k video is sometime freezing. 480p video recorded is not of good quality. 4. Loop recording is working good. Overall it serves purpose of having recording, but according to me its priced higher but not delivering for that value.

Beware - internal battery not meant to last more than a few years!
Beware of this thing... It was glitchy from the start - images freezing, SD card eventually corrupted, would not turn on, etcetera. However, the kicker is that the main camera unit (I have both the main camera and rearview camera) is DELIBERATELY DESIGNED TO DIE within a few years' time. I purchased this is late 2021, and by late 2024 this battery is dead, and the unit is non-operational. This is clearly a problem that NextBase knows about because the customer service agent sent an instruction manual for changing the battery. By the way, this isn't a run of the mill swap out of a CR2032 battery - you need to disassemble the entire unit to get to it without cracking the screen or otherwise damaging it. Could not be more disappointed that a $400-$500 camera is not designed to last more than 2-3 years. Check out Reddit reviews as well - that is where I found that the battery issue is a known problem.

Good camera but use a quality SD card
I bought the 622 gw and rear mounted camera and I keep the setting on 4K at 30 frames per second. The picture looks really good. Very clear and you can make out license plates of cars in front and both sides of you. I would recommend this product especially if you would like to view footage from trips you take afterwards. What I don't like is on the front there's a cover where the camera connects to the mount. The cover is cheap cardboard. Since I take this cameras off the mount often, I have to keep this little cardboard cover with me, which would be better if it was metal and clicked onto the camera. Also there's little rubber covers for ports that connect to a charger and to the rear camera. First day one popped off and fell down in my air vent so that's gone. Not a biggie but they both should be attached to the cam.

do not buy this high-priced item
I originally got this cuz I heard it was one of the best dash cams out there for doing doordash and Uber the audio and video quality for having passengers in your car was amazing I did have the internal camera accessory that you could buy separately which was a great camera but I had to exchange this camera twice and both of them had the same issue it thought that even if you shut your car door and you could shut it pretty softly where it wouldn't latchet thought you were in a car accident so why I actually needed it to prove I was innocent in a car accident the memory card was full and couldn't save the video I even went into the settings and disable the sensor that supposed to detect accidents but apparently it's still thought I was an accidents all the time do not buy this one find a different one
