I love how small the bento box is and the design of the set. Makes it easier for me to pack my lunch

I've been fascinated by bento videos for a while and wanted to try making bento for myself. And while I thought about getting a more traditional wood bento box the price was a little steep to make a commitment. The Umami bento box is so neat, and for the price is such a great little bento set to start with. It holds a surprising amount of food -- in the photos above, the bottom tier has 6 oz. teriyaki grilled salmon atop 1 cup of white rice in one section, and 1/2 cup of edamame and half an avocado and a cherry tomato in the other section. Then the top tier is cold snacks -- half an apple, one carrot cut into sticks, a mandarin orange, and the 2 included sauce containers, one for salad dressing, one with Nutella for the apple slices. So, that's my lunch plus both of my snack breaks fitting easily into this compact bento box! What's really great is that instead of packing each snack into a separate, disposable plastic bag, I just put them into the bento box with a divider between them. This box will also fit a silicone muffin cup perfectly, which is useful for items you don't want to mix with other stuff (like kimchi, or cucumber salad). Clean-up is very fast -- the boxes and lids (except for the bamboo top) go right into the top rack of the dishwasher. The only thing I don't like about this kit is the chopsticks that are included in the utensil set. They're too small to hold comfortably. But that's really a non-issue, I can just add full-size chopsticks to my lunch bag instead. The bamboo fork/knife/spoon work fine and look fancy.

I went through many choices and am glad I chose Umami. I bought the medium size L-40 and I feel it is the perfect size for my future lunches. It comes with 4 utensils-1 fork, knife, spoon, chopsticks, 2 sauce containers & 2 dividers. Seriously! All this and the tops are sealed tight, it comes with a steam release vent on both tops. I cannot wait to use these. They are also microwave safe so meals will be easy to warm up. The 2 containers are held together with a thick band. Well made and quite impressive for the price!

Came in so fast. Ordered for my son, he is loving it. Loves that fact that it was adjustable compartments. Would definitely buy again.

Haven't tried it in the dishwasher yet, but the bamboo slat is removable and everything else can be washed! It arrived in great condition, with info and instructions, and it just what I wanted! I somehow missed that the compartment dividers are MOBILE, so you can adjust the relative sizes of the compartments in each layer! Even the sauce containers are sleek, pretty, and washable. I got the bamboo lid because I just found it too beautiful to pass up, even for the sake of convenience (because then, with a non-wood top lid, it would have been 100% dishwasher safe! But alas, my fondness for art has stopped that!) Thankfully, I now see that the lid slips out super easily, and the rest can be washed, with the lid gently wiped and set aside. I may also try "sealing" it with cutting board protector to protect it better. The silverware is super useful, and I love, love, LOVE that it has fork/knife/spoon AND chopsticks in the set--the fabric holder to keep them tidy and in order was a delightful surprise when I opened it, too. So simple, but so useful! The leak-proof seals were nice and even seemed air-tight. The little wings to make corners for lifting were really useful for that. It is just so pretty AND so well made! I really like it and I'm really pleased with this purchase. Definitely as described or better!

Others may complain about the size. Granted you look at it for the first time, it seems tiny. But honestly it is more than enough. I usually put rice in one container and my protein in another container. I love have small and portable it is. Works well in the microwave too. Keep in mind too, this bento box is about controlling portion size.

Very cute and compact way of bringing my 1-2 meal prep meals with me. I thought the lid was real bamboo when I ordered it. I'm glad its not. It's painted to look like it and it's very believable and more durable. The vent on the lid is great! You don't have to worry about it being stuck sealed from the pressure buildup of the cooling of the food process.

While the lunch box comes with several great features, such as multiple compartments, utensils, and sauce jars, my experience has been mixed, and there are a few notable drawbacks that could be improved. Design and Features: The lunch box has a sleek, black design and offers a good amount of compartments, making it versatile for packing different types of food. It comes with four utensils and two sauce jars, which is a nice touch for those who like to carry their condiments or dips separately. The nestable space-saving design is another standout feature, as it allows you to stack the containers easily, saving space in your bag or kitchen. The Issues: While the concept of stacking the containers is great for space-saving, I found that the containers are small and not flush with each other when stacked. The lack of a tight fit makes them a bit wobbly when stacked together, which is inconvenient if you’re trying to store or carry them efficiently. The containers don’t sit neatly in place, so they often shift or slide, which can lead to potential spillage or just a frustrating experience when packing. Another issue I had was with the strap. While I understand that the strap is meant to secure the lunch box, I found it unnecessary and a bit cumbersome. It’s not easy to remove, and I wish the design allowed for the strap to be easily detached or redesigned for a more convenient, quick-access feature. Having a strap that can't be removed without hassle detracts from the otherwise practical design of the lunch box. This is on the pricier side but mediocre quality.

Amazingly Good Quality!!

Looks very high quality, I like that it comes with two little pots for dips etc. Easy to clean, looks elegant and has plenty of space for a healthy packed lunch. Great value for money.
