Will this gate stop my husky from going upstairs?

No it will not. I bought this for a black lab and she jumped it instantly. I would return it if I didn’t throw out the box after I installed it and thought it would work. Gate wouldn’t even latch closed the second day out of the box. Hate it. Zero stars.

My 2yr old grandson has figured out how to open this gate. Is there any way to secure this gate?

Put a combination padlock on it such as ZHEGE 2 Pack Luggage Locks, TSA Cable Travel Lock, Safe Padlock for Gym, School, Suitcases, Baggage, Small Cabinets, Computer Bags or a similar lock that has a cable and a combination. If you don't let your grandchild watch you put the numbers in, that should solve your problem.
