My dog ended up getting bladder stones over a year ago, and we had to have surgery to remove the stones and the vet wanted me to keep my dog on the science diet food for the rest of her life so that she wouldn't get stones again (stones are formed when there is a build up of crystals in the bladder). The vet prescription food was expensive for a small bag, had absolutely no nutrients, and was basically filled with salt to keep my dog thirsty so she would constantly drink water and have to urinate so that crystals wouldn't be able to form in her bladder. This created an issue of my dog just sleeping or sitting there and urinating without knowing it. My vet said she had incontinence, not related to the surgery or food, but I didn't believe it. I did a lot of research and decided to put my dog on the best dog foods that are more natural (like wellness core) to take her off the crap vet food, and use the berry balance in the food to help with keeping her bladder clear of crystals so that stones won't form.
