Everbuild Everflex Fire Mate Intumescent Acrylic Sealant, Brown, 295 ml

I am not sure what is wrong with this listing but both grey and black versions of this products are listed at nearly £80 when they should be at least a 1/10th of that. I have reviewed the brown colour sealant. One tube was received complete with nozzle but no end cap to use if you do not finish the whole tube. It is easy to apply and behaves just like a normal sealant. Everbuild FIREMATEBN is an intumescent acrylic sealant that swells when exposed to temperatures in excess of 125°C to prevent the passage of fire and smoke and has a fire rating of up to 5 hours. It also has acoustic noise-reducing properties which may be suitable in certain circumstances. This is a good product but I am unable to recommend at the current price listed.

Sealants have a important job and cause thousands of pounds of damage if they fail either by poor application or poor product The product has done it job in tough locations in public area and very damp wet areas and has held up well

I have a solid fuel burner with copper water pipes and metal flue pipes attached. They’re all sealed but I noticed recently that a piece of solid sealant had dropped out. After some years of use, I want to be sure the seals are solid and replaced if necessary. I asked my service engineer to check and asked him to use this sealant where required. This sealant is suitable for my intended purpose, but I’m perplexed by the cost. There are similar products available for a fraction of the cost and as I’m no techie, I have no idea how the expense is justified. It’s certainly effective for my purpose, very easy to use and control with a metal gun and it does the job. But the cost..? Don’t know why it’s so expensive and that’s a big no when there are other equally effective fire retardant sealants at literally a fraction of the price. 10 out of 10 for performance and ease of use, but 2 out of 10 for price. That affects my overall rating and takes a 5 star down to 2 because the price is way out of kilter. I’m happy to reconsider if I can be persuaded that this is so much better than a cheaper alternative.
