Made for cleaning the bolt and parts of the carrier on an AR-15 rifle and it does that with ease! The 2 parts of the BCG that get the most carbon buildup that are hard to clean normally are the firing pin and the top of the bolt (curved part). This tool cleans those two problem areas easily with little effort. The smaller end is cut out for a cleaning patch to help clean out the inside of the carrier assembly. The CAT M-4 tool is also made out of metal and it's very sturdy! A bit pricey but in the long run, I believe it's worth every penny as a clean rifle is one that will last the lifetime. If you have an AR-15 rifle, then you need this in your cleaning kit!

Works as it should. Could be better with cleaner, more precise edges. I have 2 and I do use them. Its does help with cleaning.

Amazing tool. Thus far I've only used the bolt scraper section, but it's worth the price for that function alone. Two trips to the range with my new DD and the bolt had significant build up of carbon beyond the gas rings, and repeated applications of bore cleaner and scrubbing with a brass brush hardly dented it. 10 seconds with this tool and 98% of it was gone, without damaging the bolt. Absolutely invaluable.

I have bought a number of these. Not only do I have one for myself but they make great gifts for both my military brethren and my civilian friends and family. The Cat tool is just the best cleaning tool on the market hands down. I've tried the BONE and other products that work ok, this works great. If you carry a multi-tool and this, you'll be able to tackle most cleaning tasks on an AR/M-4 platform with ease. Even the so called AR multi-tools themselves don't work as good as this tool at cleaning the bolt, the bolt carrier, and the firing pin; undoubtedly the dirtiest parts, and hardest parts to keep clean. Within moments of disassembly, your weapon can be clean enough to reassemble and fire flawlessly. The option to use cleaning patches to really "GI" the crap out of your rifle is there too, but the idea that I can rip my gun down, give it a quick scrape, put it back together in order to be operational in moments, is a huge plus for me.

You've probably read reviews claiming how much you need this tool. I had. I thought the price was high for a little scraper. I received it several days after a trip to the range, after I had already cleaned my rifle. I decided to disassemble my BCG anyway just to check the fit of the tool. I could hardly believe the amount of carbon I scraped off my previously "clean" parts. This is the first AR-15 I own and this was the first trip to the range with it, so just over 100 rounds or so down the barrel. I discovered that they're very dirty guns. Carbon seems to get in places that it just doesn't go on any of my other rifles. This little tool is well made and well thought out. It works well for cleaning various surfaces plus the firing pin, it is engineered with close tolerances to be particularly effective in cleaning the rear of the bolt. I hope I get a few thousand rounds through the rifle since I'm looking forward to hours and hours of cleaning with this tool. My only regret is that I didn't get two! I often go shooting with my son then we come home and clean our rifles at the same time, I can definitely foresee some challenges coming for "dibs" on this tool.
