Works as advertised
UPDATE: 11-01-2025 I am STILL loving this product. I've had it almost 2 years now end it still works great. I think I'm going to buy another one just in case this one breaks, I mean it has to wear out at some point. Rarely do I buy a product on Amazon or anywhere else, where it does what it says it's going to do and it does it so well and for so long. If I could give a sixth star I would. ******* ORIGINAL REVIEW I received this earlier today and it installed easily and seamlessly. No hiccups. I have a 2020 Mitsubishi outlander sport, and I simply plugged the unit into my usb port in my car and it fired right up. There were no decisions to make, no codes to enter, I plugged it in and within about 30 seconds it started working. Basically, it sets up a new Bluetooth connection, which supersedes the normal Bluetooth you might have set up with your car direct to your phone. It works identical to a wired set up, the only difference is there is a tiny lag with the wireless set up as opposed to the wired. But the lag is tiny, and I got used to it quickly. I took about a half hour drive on the highway just to test everything out, and everything works just as well as with the wired, voice dictate, Siri, etc. Again, the only difference I could tell was that tiny lag. I also did some shopping meaning I got in and out of my car several times, of course turning it on and off, and it seems to be about 20 seconds from the time you start your car to the time that it's ready to go. The only negative, and it wasn't even a negative for me because my set up was flawless, was the little direction book was very terse; indeed, there's better instructions on the Amazon product description page. It did ship with a tech-support card giving clear instructions of how to contact technical support if you do have problems. But again, I didn't have ANY problems. I plugged it in and it started up and started working the way I expected it to. Tomorrow, I have a wireless charger/phone holder coming in so this should get me off of chords completely. I've only used it one day now, but I'm completely satisfied with it. It does everything I expected it to do.

When it worked it’s awesome. But, questionable quality and no support from the company.
UPDATE 9 SEP 2021 Still no resolution. Unit does not work and manufacturer hasn’t responded to my requests. I would give it 0 stars simply because they don’t support their customers or product. UPDATE 8 AUG 2021 The manufacturer has been no help resolving the issue and I’m still out money and a working unit with no resolution in sight. As I mentioned in my original review, when the product worked it was awesome. But it broke within two months and the company is not responding to my requests for technical support or replacement. Do not buy! ___________________________________ Two stars… The product itself works great when it works. I would give the functionality 4 1/2 or 5 stars. But apparently the quality of the product and their technical support leave a little to be desired. The unit is inoperable in less than two months. It was a little tricky to set up at first. When I plugged it into the car to set it up, it did not go smoothly. A back up method of setting it up was to plug it into a USB plug and plug it into an outlet in your house. You can then access it through an IP address. I was able to reset it. After this, set up went fairly OK. For the first five or six weeks, the unit worked beautifully. It takes about 10 seconds to boot up after the car is turned on but after that, it was great. An occasional bit of static or a little stutter in the music every so often, but otherwise it was a huge convenience and I loved it. However, it bricked on me about two weeks ago. The unit displays a solid red light. I cannot access it through Bluetooth or through the IP address like I did before. I’ve gotten no response from the manufacturer. My return window closed after 30 days so that no longer seems to be an option. I would recommend waiting for reviews that have used the unit for at least 90 days. It was nice while it lasted, but I won’t be purchasing another one and I’m out $100. If the manufacturer ever contacts me and rectifies the situation, I’ll update this review.

Works great in my 2020 GMC Sierra SLT - pleasantly surprised!
After initial setup in my 2020 GMC Sierra SLT, it's pretty much flawless. I mounted it with some industrial Velcro inside my center console and have no issues with signal loss. The reviewers who state that the sound quality is poor are either lying or doing something wrong. The data is NOT sent over Bluetooth, it's wifi. Bluetooth is only used for initial setup. If there's any signal degradation vs wired, it's practically imperceptible. The only issues I've had are 1) when my phone's cell signal is weak, CarPlay generally works strangely, if at all (not the fault of this device), and 2) sometimes my phone decides not to connect to the device wifi since there's no internet connection. Occasionally I have to fiddle with it to get it to connect. But 19 times out of 20, when I hop in the truck, CarPlay connects automatically without even taking my phone out of my pocket. I do agree with the reviewer who said this isn't really a great product for people who aren't tech savvy, as it requires a general understanding of how it works in order to troubleshoot. Overall, it's totally worth the money and takes away one of the last quibbles I had with my new truck.

Update 2 - Tried with different car and connected OK.
UPDATE: 9 OCT - I went through Amazon to contact seller and their response was very quick. Since the unit is working with my Pioneer equipped car, I will leave it there. If I get it working with the Ford again, I will provide an update to this review. Pros: Initial connection is quick and not difficult. Subsequent use the wireless connects quickly when I start my car Relatively small size Quick support response Cons: The instructions could use a technical re-write and would reduce problems people are having Bluetooth Device was deleted from my Ford, I couldn't get it connected again UPDATE: 8 OCT - Was able to connect to another car with a Pioneer AVH-4100 radio unit. I was unable to get it to connect again in my Ford Flex. The bluetooth connection screen does not pop up. I do not want to "reset" the radio, since it functions fine. UPDATE: 7 Oct. Can no longer connect to this device in my 2019 Ford. Instructions are not written in good technical english and really could be re-written. Was able to do firmware update through iPhone wifi (it showed update successful) but it still will not connect via bluetooth or is not recognized by car. Reset button on device webpage (192.168.50.2) did not work for me. Now all I have is red light on device and is not visible in bluetooth list. Original review. Connected in 2019 Ford Flex without issue. Had to select/connect in iPhone (iOS 14.6) Bluetooth then select iPhone/connect on Ford screen and allow CarPlay on iPhone. CarPlay opened right away. Went to store when i came out and started car, CarPlay opened, no need to get my phone out of my pocket. I will update if anything changes.

Annoying intermittent disconnection
I love my carplay but hate the fact that I have to plug my phone in every time I get into the car, especially for short trips. I was really excited about this product since it'd make using carplay a little more convenient. After using it for a few weeks, I'm left wanting a little more stability. There are three things that I believe need to be improved to make it better product. 1. Setup - the instruction is not exactly accurate or precise. When you first plug it in, you have to connect to a wifi connection to set up the unit. The instruction does not tell you which wifi to connect to so if you have a bunch of unknown networks in your area, you'd be left guessing which one to choose. After finish updating the unit via wifi, you'd need to pair it via bluetooth. Again, the instruction does not tell you what the connection name is so you'd have to take a guess. 2. Pairing after each vehicle startup - this process should be made a little smoother. My car display always pops up with two options (showing the same device two times) to choose when I start up my vehicle. If I don't do anything, it will automatically connects after about 15-20 seconds. I am not sure why I am even given an option to choose. 3. Stability - this is my biggest complaint and the reason I give it three stars. It's nice when it works but for some reason, it'd drop the phone momentarily once in a while and reconnect on its own. This would be really upsetting if you are on a conferencing call or are depending the navigation system in travelling in an unfamiliar area. I'm still trying to figure out my intermittent disconnection issue. I'm not sure if it's because the USB cable that comes with the unit is defective - it seems a little loose sitting inside my UBS port. Still trying to find a different cable to see if it helps.

Mine has been great
I’ve had mine for almost a year now in my mustang and it has been great! I’ve gone through the set up process twice because I got a new phone and it was quick and easy both times and took about a minute to do. The device itself works almost perfectly. It connects in about 15-20 seconds when I get into my car. Occasionally it will not connect or show up in car play but simply unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes the problem. While using it you probably won’t notice much difference compared to having your phone plugged into your car. However, there is a slight delay in the sound so when you play or pause the music from your phone you will notice a 1-2 second delay. This delay doesn’t seem to affect phone calls. I’ve taken many phone calls while using this device and never noticed a delay that affects the call. I’ve loved using this product and even recommended it to my family and friends. My mom bought a device and it works great in her jeep, however she bought a 2nd one for her corvette which was not compatible. Other than that issue she has also loved her device and so have I. It makes it a lot easier and I imagine it’s a lot better for my phone as I don’t have it plugged in all the time while I drive.

Depends on what you use it for
The Good - It works if you only have one phone paired with the device. To be clear, when I say paired, not trying to use 2 phones at the same time, but actually paired at some time to the device. Example, if your wife uses the same car and her phone is paired as well as yours. The Bad - - Sound quality is OK. Definite drop in quality from wired. To be expected. - If you use more than 1 phone as described above, you have to physically connect the phone you want to use with a cable. Then you can unplug and use the device. You can't select the device you want to use. Which is the #1 reason to have a wireless device. - Lag. There is a good 1-2 second lag from when you make your selection to the action taking place. You get used to it, but it's always going to be annoying. Because sometimes it does not respond. So you are always left wondering "did it work or not?" Think if your keyboard had a delay and how annoying that would become. So all the great reviews probably only use it with 1 phone. And are just happy they don't have a wire anymore. I will say Tech Support kept trying to address the issue of 2 phones. And just to be clear, the other phone didn't have to be in the car to cause the problem. I was at work 10 miles away from my wife's phone and the device still asked which phone I wanted to connect to? I selected my phone, but it would not connect until I used a cable to connect my phone. The problem is, I was being the companies bug fixing employee after trying about 4 different "fixes". I'm not paid to be their bug fixing engineering employee. Go with something else. This is half baked.

Works Great in 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe SE
UPDATE: So far the only real annoyance is the initial sync time when I first start up the car. Other than that, it's been working great and definitely worth the convenience of not having to plug and unplug my phone every time I drive around! I've uploaded more images to show the firmware version of the device as well as settings (which were set by default) in case that helps anyone. Firmware: 2021.03.06.1355 --- ORIGINAL REVIEW: It seems this product is a hit or miss for people... fortunately for me, it seems to be working just fine. Initial setup was pretty easy... although I did run into a minor issue. When I first turned on the car, my head unit showed instructions to connect to "HYUNDA-1234"... but my iPhone wasn't able to see a device by that name. I did see a VOLKSW-5678 which I thought was a bit odd. I tried to initiate the connection from the head unit to my phone and sure enough it asked if I wanted to connect to a device called VOLKSW... I ended up unplugging then plugging it back in, and that fixed the issue. Aside from that, Apple Carplay has been running great wirelessly for a couple of weeks now. I've been able to use Amazon Music/Pandora for music... ask Siri for directions as well as answer phone calls. There does seem to be a slight lag compared to when it was connected via wire, but it's not really that noticeable to me. The biggest lag/delay you might notice is when you first turn on your car, but I mean unless you're in a hurry and ready to race out of the gates as soon as you start the car it shouldn't be too bad.

Connetivity
I bought it with reluctance, however quite impressed with the performance. Initially narrowed down to this product and otto cast, I chose this product base on the later's website caution it may not work with latest iOS. Used it for a couple of months, it was connecting wirelessly with in few (with in 20) seconds (Before I can take out the car from my garage on to the road). I am using it on my Mazda3 2022 and I cannot ask for more. I have used it on iPhone 6s, X & 12, has issues with 6s, but not with Others. Phone calls were crisp with no lag and music is good enough (In comparison to my Denon at home) on my car's Bose system. There is room for improvement I hope. Although I gave 5stars, that does not mean this units has no issues. There is noticeable (1sec) lag when you skipping songs, and also noted that it dominates the in car entertain system - it will try to show CarPlay all the time. This should be improved - and I hope this can be done in future software UPDATES. Well done to all the team at - Carlinkit.

Toyota Camry 2019 Works Great
Worked great out of the box. I did what other reviews suggested and forgot the car Bluetooth before setting this up. Works flawlessly.
