This product is not made with essential oils, which are toxic if consumed. This is made by infusing plant material in food grade sunflower oil. My fiance is extremely sensitive to any kind of mint, it gives him an asthma attack, and he is able to use this oil without any problems. I suspect anyone's who's had issues using this with baby may have used too much. As a precaution, when I first used it, I only applied the tiniest amount in a test spot on the outside of my baby's gums. When I saw no negative reaction I felt safe to apply a bit more. She showed signs of relief within 5 minutes of application. **Q: How much peppermint oil is in this? I bought this and then researched that peppermint oil/menthol can cause breathing problems in children under 2.5?** A: Peppermint essential oils are not to be used around infants or young children. Peppermint can cause respiratory distress in infants/young children. It is not to be diffused or applied to children under the age of 6. It is not even recommended to diffuse any essential oils around an infant before the age of six months, and there is a list of those that are safe around the age of 6 months. It is definitely is not safe to apply internally.
