Flea and Tick Shampoo for Dogs and Cats, 16 oz

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been using this flea and tick shampoo for my dog and I’m honestly impressed with the results. The shampoo lathers very well, smells clean without being too strong, and left my pet’s fur soft and fresh after the bath. I noticed fewer fleas almost immediately after using it, and it helped calm my dog’s scratching too. I also like that it works for both dogs and cats, which is very convenient for multi-pet homes. The bottle is a good size and a little product goes a long way. Overall, this is a great affordable option for keeping pets clean and protected from fleas and ticks. I would definitely buy it again!

I’m almost embarrassed that I had to order this. I had a slight flea infestation thanks to “Le Dog”. In 30 years of dog & cat ownership I have never had to deal with fleas and ticks. Fast forward to 2023, I’m now living adjacent to a dense wooded area. Stupid me, I thought those expensive monthly chew tablets prescribed by the vet for fleas & ticks took care of just that, fleas and ticks. As they say, ‘it’s complicated’! As a pet owner, I feel like I’ve let them down. Believe it or not, I never saw a flea on my dog, it was found on the indoor cat that never goes outside! My dog is a dachshund/beagle mix so he has a smooth, very dense, tight double undercoat of brown black fur to hide in, but the cat… he has a fine coat of light ginger colored fur so it couldn’t hide and got caught ‘sneaking’ about. Long story short, after a quick call to the vet, all the pets needed capstar administered which would kill fleas immediately BUT not the eggs. Unfortunately, we are talking about giving reluctant 20lb male cats a pill they would rather not have. With one dog and 4 cats in tow we headed to the vet to have the ‘flea killer’ pill administered. Meanwhile, pest control came to bomb the house & spray the yard while on our little day trip to the vet. The next step was washing/sanitizing all beddings & linen and vacuuming the floors with the dog bath last. Since I was already familiar with the Veterinary Formula product line and it being paraben free and no skin reactions on the dog, I ordered their Flea & Tick shampoo. The 16oz bottle guarantees l’ll get more than a couple of baths out of it. I also needed to strike a balance of a reliable brand that was effective in killing fleas, was not harmful or irritate my dog’s sensitivities, and was affordable. This was it. I needed it to kill any adult stragglers, immature fleas or newly hatched fleas that the pill did not. My first “sniff” impression is the shampoo does NOT have a strong chemical odor, but more of a mild citrusy scent (better than what I was expecting). It does a great job of lathering up making it easy to work into the undercoat and reach any fleas living there. There was no skin irritation, burning, or allergy to using the shampoo and it left no residue. It felt more like a sudsy conditioner. I waited closer to 8 minutes before rinsing out the shampoo. That stuff is fantastic! Oh-kay, he didn’t smell as sweet as his oatmeal shampoo BUT… he had “salon soft” and silky fur! It’s actually better than the conditioner I have been using. As for fleas? I may have seen a spec or two in the bathtub. In all likelihood, the dog was used as a flea taxi into the house & cats. Up until now, the indoor cats were not on any flea prevention, but that has changed as well as getting flea combed. As they say, ‘where there is one, there is many’. While the shampoo was effective in killing & removing current fleas on Lucky Lou, it had to be used in conjunction with the other flea prevention treatments above to get ahead of the flea-eggs crazy life-cycle. A second flea bath was given 10 days out as a precaution. Did you know one flea can lay 50 eggs? Worse, one female flea in 60 days can leave you with 20,000 if not treated. -The constant spray, wash, vacuum, of carpet, bedding & linens and the once monthly flea oral & topical treatments now has house & pets “flea-free” for 82 days! I’m also pretty sure the cooler weather has helped to control the yard population as well as planting plenty of mint about. Overall, 5 stars! Neither dog nor cats have fleas! This is my grail of flea shampoo!

Kills fleas on contact. And has a good smell.

I was shocked at how effective this shampoo was. We lucked out that Amazon could deliver this within hours so literally in less than a day we solved our flea frenzy. For reference: My dog weighs 70lbs Poodle curly, dense hair Lathered the shampoo on dry first all over the body and then used water followed by another round of shampoo. Bonus: Left her hair super soft, very light, clean scent, and easy to wash off. I used half the bottle in one go lol but that was bc I was so desperate to get rid of these things. Literally saw the little suckers coming out dead from the lather.

After moving into my new apartment, I found that all three of my cats--who are and have always been 100% inside cats--had fleas. I immediately set about purchasing everything I possibly could to exterminate these pests before we got to infestation level. I found just one or two on each cat, and they were all around the tail area, so I didn't want to simply put on a flea collar or some drops at their shoulder blades in case the fleas never migrated upwards. I was able to successfully wash each of them with this shampoo, while also finding and killing several fleas in the process. Afterwards, I continued regularly brushing them with flea combs, and still found just a couple more (dead) fleas. I'm still trying to find the source of where these infernal vermin are coming from, but very happy to have found a product that truly works. I would note that I washed my cats without gloves, and the moment the shampoo entered an open cut on one of my hands, it burned quite a bit for a few seconds before going away. And I found it didn't do the same thing even with several minutes between washing each cat. So I would be very cautious in using this on your animal if they've got broken skin, or a serious infestation that has caused them to scratch excessively.

This make made the fur of my dogs and cats soft and shinny . It seemed like it worked but a week later I saw fleas again . I did also treat the yard and house so it wasn't that . I washed the animals every weekend for 3 weeks and still would see some on the animals . I've never had fleas and this is the first time these animals have had fleas but we decided to take the dogs on a trip with us and boom , fleas . So my thought is that this probably works but does not kill the eggs, Idn . All I know is they are not gone so I'm going to buy another product . These are indoor animals so I don't want flea on them. Well even if they were out door but for sure don't want fleas in the house or yard .

This shampoo worked great to remove fleas from my pup. We bathed our dog using the shampoo twice, and went over him with a flea comb for good measure. The next day after the bath, no fleas remained! The shampoo did cause slight dryness on our pup’s skin as expected, but it worked for it’s intended purpose wonderfully. I’d highly recommend this shampoo to any pet owner needing to quickly combat fleas.

This is my go-to for flea and tick destruction. You only need a little to make a nice lather making it last longer than other shampoos. I was told by my vet to get this to kill active fleas. It doesn’t provide prevention. I figured I’d then bathe my cats in their usual shampoo and conditioner. I didn’t have to because this shampoo has a wonderful smell! They also dried so incredibly soft. Try this! You won’t be sorry!
