This coffee was good. It was very rich and had a fresh and strong smell to it. Pretty dark roast. It was a bit pricey, but we expected that. Did not seem to have any extra umph to it, but we drink a lot of coffee.

I've tried several different "high caffeine" roasts and I can say this one is my favorite. First the cons: 1) There aren't a lot of oils in the beans so a French press brew like I use falls flatter than others if not extracted correctly. It's important to let it "bloom" (coffee snob term) and follow the press directions precisely to ensure a good cup. A customer service rep said that some batches do have more oils then others; I will update when the next order comes in. 2) My best cup out of my French Press has been soaking it for at least 5 minutes. Usually this results in a bitter cup, however for this roast it was the perfect amount of time to achieve a good flavor. Pros: 1) Caffeine! It has more than Death Wish or Valhalla (not quantitative, just my qualitative taste buds) which is awesome and definitely helps me get up in the morning 2) AMAZING cold-brew. I use the Toddy system. My suggestion: Super coarse grind, follow the directions manual (alternating water/coffee pour), soak for exactly 18 hours, drain. When your ready for your drink, use 4 oz. concentrate with 6 oz. milk and 1 oz of vanilla syrup. My roommate who doesn't even enjoy the taste of coffee gulped this down. 3) Even though it is not as oily as I would like for this dark roast, it was still much tastier then the Death Wish brand. It is lighter, a little cleaner taste without the burnt aftertaste. All in all, best high-caffeine roast on Amazon, and best all-around cold brew roast. Possible improvements: a lighter roast for the morning. Caffeine is burnt off the more it roasts (unlike the common dark=caffeine myth), this could result in a better tasting cup.

This is a solid, tasty brew. It's not bitter at all and is a very enjoyable cup of strong coffee. I will say, however, that I notice no extra kick whatsoever. It could be just me but I certainly expected more of a pick me up after all the buzz about it being the strongest coffee ever. The price is good and, again, it does taste very good (though I think Death Wish is tastier). But I can only give it 4 stars because it's not the buzz I was looking for.

Banned Coffee is the best highly caffinated coffee that you will find on Amazon. I’ve been on a hunt for variants of extreme coffee, as I’m a journalist, 11-year military veteran, and current grad school student. I need caffeinated coffee to do what I do every day . . . I have also built up quite the caffeine tolerance over the years. Quite honestly, my hunt began as I, hinged on my free shipping via Prime membership. So I had to search through a variety brands, and many seemed like hipster hype. Even so, I narrowed it down in-between Banned Coffee and Deathwish Coffee on my first buy. On the first order, I purchased Deathwish as they offered two brews – both were miserable and as caffeinated as a cup of Truck Stop Folgers crystals from a Ready Serv . . . Both their Valhalla and Deathwish blends – thanks, but no thanks. For Banned Coffee, I've gone through a two-pound bag of awesome in a few weeks . . . So yes, I’m clearly enjoying it. I, of course, wish it was a bit more powerful. Then again, I’m the guy up orders seven espressos shots in a single Americano when I order coffee on the go. There may never be a caffeinated enough beverage for myself. Yet I’ll continue to reorder these 2lbers on payday . . . Until you make a stronger blend. Other than that, keep up the great work so that we may alert and awake!

I grind it for the Aeropress French press style coffee maker (using a heaping coffee measure to maximize effect) and the aroma is superb, coffee tastes excellent with little bitterness, and the caffeinated kick is sufficient for the hardcore caffeine aficionado. The only thing missing in my opinion is a range of brew darkness options. While this medium dark brew is definitely better than many of the other near-charcoal high caffeine coffees on the market, sometimes you're just in the mood for a medium roast or even light roast coffee, not to mention the obvious benefit of more caffeine in the lighter roasts, and more is often better in this regard. This one is on my regular purchase list, but I will vary the purchase routine if I find a slightly lighter roast (or two) for those days or afternoons when that sounds tastier.

my first cup was tasty, much better than the coffee I'd been drinking lately. I couldn't finish a cup of the old stuff and I kept trying new more gourmet brands but I was underwhelmed. and the caffeine never kicked in from my old coffee because I didn't drink enough. originally, I meant to order Death Wish coffee, but I mistakenly clicked on Banned Coffee. It is a vast improvement over the previous coffee I've been drinking for years. the flavor is much better, (I got whole beans so I could grind for better flavor as suggested in a few reviews), and I'm now on my second cup. I'm feeling it and I'm alert and functional and not jittery. I turned 55 in January, so I'm feeling my age what with the osteoporosis and all, so I was hoping I'd get good, strong coffee to help inspire me into doing household chores. I hate household chores. I'll get my ass to work, I'll work hard at work, but cleaning? nope. I'm pleased to report that I got what I wanted. good taste, strong caffeine content, no jitters. I'll order Death Wish as well, to compare. all in all, a good purchase.

We have been drinking another high caffeine coffee for several years that tastes fantastic and definitely has a high caffeine content. We were very excited to try another brand that advertised high caffeine. We were very disappointed. Not only does it lack flavor but the taste that is there is very bitter. The caffeine level doesn't seem any higher than regular coffee.

I drink A LOT of coffee. Never had a brand give me indigestion like this one. The flavor is OK but never had to follow my cup -o- joe with a Tums chaser.
