Once the dog is basically trained to he shock (doesn't take long) then the vibrate can replace the shock. This means the collar can be worn more loosely. This biggest issue with ecollars is pressure sores over time. The second biggest issue is the APDT Association thinking that any correction for any reason on any dog is brutal. It isn't. For certain dogs and certain situations ecollars save dogs from going to the pound and being put to sleep. This is the only collar I recommend because I only use it for general aversion training, not high end sport training. If that's what you're getting one for then get this one 100%. Nothing else.
