IT DOES NOT REQUIRE BATTERIES !!! And the color of the dot is amber, i.e., yellow-orange. I installed this on a 9 mm. Walther PPQ Q5 Match and it was dead accurate right out of the box. It is well established that you should be able to shoot more accurately, and maybe more quickly, with a reflex sight than with iron sights.The sight uses glow-in-the-dark tritium and fiber optics to create the dot in the lens, so no batteries are needed. The dot is 7 MOA in size, which I believe is the smallest size available from Trijicon in their line of RMR tritium-powered reflex sights.If you want to keep your iron sights for back up co-witnessing, then normally you will have to replace your stock iron sights with a taller suppressor sight set. That's because the base of most reflex sights will block out your view of normal height iron sights. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Robust optic, great for rough use. *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2019* I have 2 of the 7 MOA Dual-Illuminated Amber Dot model, one mounted on a Glock 35 MOS and another on top of an ACOG. Bought these back in 2013. This optic is very robust, especially with the shape of the optic diverting impacts away from your glass. Other miniature red dots can end up with broken glass if dropped on top, while the RMR is much more able to handle those impacts. Having the dual-illumination ensures that you don't have to worry about batteries and you can see the dot in both low light and in sunny conditions, though it is much dimmer than I would normally prefer in a battery-only optic. The sight glass is smaller in profile than other miniature red dots, mostly due to the robust design. Make sure you practice with sight presentation after putting this on a pistol, as the dot can be easy to lose if you haven't built that muscle memory. On a rifle, especially on my ACOG, I find this isn't an issue. Also pay attention to how you mount the RMR on a pistol, as I had to buy a adapter from Trijicon to properly mount this on my Glock 35 MOS. I don't think you can find a better miniature red dot if you need one that can withstand tons of punishment. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great optic *by B***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2019* This optic is very sturdy and holds zero no matter how many times I rack my Glock 19 MOS with it, I’ve had about 500 rds through it and it is holding up nicely. A couple things to note are that the screws need to be loctited in place and I highly recommend using a gasket that trijicon sells separately. This optic is very bright in the daylight however low light produces a very dimly lit reticle. When aiming from a low light area to a lighted area or a surface your weapons light is pointed the reticle washes out, best way to shoot accurately with this is to use know point of aim, suppressor high sights, or using the hot spot of your weapons light will get you fairly decent results at close range as well.
