They're plenty tough.
Bolts fit and fastened the headboard. After tightening them had to cut them to length with a bolt cutter. Would have been easier with a grinder, or just get shorter bolts.

Useful Matched Washer/Nut/Carriage Bolt Supply
When you have a job that requires cinching up 2 pieces of wood or metal, you have to have ready-at-hand matching carriage bolts, washers, and nuts โ-and you canโt spend your whole time hunting through your hardware supply. This is a great reasonably priced solution (unless you donโt mind wasting a lot of time, then go hunt). . Comes in a plastic baggie which can label if you want. Grab the baggie and go to work.
