Hello! You can manually change the mode regardless of which toothbrush head is attached to the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart. With the BrushSync technology, it will default to the correct setting based on the toothbrush head type.

We are using the black Sonicare - is there a way to color code the black brushes so we know which brush belongs to me or my spouse?

I'd use a silver marker or colored plastic tape.
