I thought I needed the plastic spacer to attach the drain valve assembly, but it did not seal. After realizing there is a rubber bushing/spacer, I replaced the plastic shim with the rubber and that stopped the leaking. So far this proves to be holding. **Q: Will this work in any standard toilet?** A: This also doesn’t fit older side flush Pegasus toilets. You need at least three inches clearance between the center of the handle mounting hole and the riser tube for the fill valve. The handle assembly for this kit is very bulky and will interfere with the float if there isn’t much room. **Q: Does this fit a kohler ellison toilet as a replacment part? is there any thing else i need?** A: As long as the lower rubber seal fits the tank drain. Don’t place too much pressured on unit, or will deform seal, and the tank will drain. **Q: anyone tried this on a mansfield? sounds like i need to convert to flapper before install** A: This kit requires the flapper and the overflow value to be separate, though there is NO mention of this anywhere that I can see. You have to attach the big white piece to the overflow value, and the blue thing at the bottom sits where the flapper was. On a Mansfield toilet, there's no way to remove the plastic piece that serves as the combined flapper/overflow valve without disassembling, so there is no way to insert this thing. I considered trying to replace the weird combo piece with a separated assembly, but then I decided to just buy a Niagara toilet and save myself the headache. Where it goes into the big hole, very much wish there was a long cylindrical rubberized tube. Item is so light it had to be engineered to stay in place. Otherwise, very quiet, flushes extremely well, and very easy to use.
