Our 14" blue and white koi named, Blue, injured himself while jerkily flipping around and partially exiting the water. If this behavior didn't occasionally continue and other issues show up we would have assumed the following was due to his injury. His mouth was injured when he initially jerked around and exited the water (a cut in lower lip and his mouth wouldn't shut all the way--NOT gasping) so his subsequent eating problems could have been attributed to the injury except he also gradually started to have issues swimming up and down. He'd get excited when he sensed food and would work his mouth like crazy but couldn't seem to aim to get the food, nor could he get all the way to the top or bottom. His lack of coordination gradually became apparent and just got worse. We could see the will to do the movements but the mind not connecting correctly with the body parts required to complete the actions. He had no other floating problems--he remained even in the water and could swim quite gracefully at that one level (the "level" being abt 3x his height)--at rest he looked quite normal as well and would sink to the same bottom he was unable to swim to! He just couldn't willingly move himself all the way to the top or bottom. He would sometimes spasm his top fins, shake his head, or crazily dart around after getting a single piece of food and at other times seemingly for no reason. I found peeling a chunk of cucumber, dicing it, then mashing it with a fork and tossing it in worked best for him. The pieces filled the water so much he had to get some without being able to actually aim to get it. They all go crazy for cucumber so this was ok with his tank mates too! However, he was loosing weight before our eyes! It became clear his brain was involved because over some time, he became slow to sense food even when the other fish had already reacted. It was both heartbreaking and heart warming to see another kio named Flipper, try to boost Blue up to the food on the surface and rest by his side. Blue eventually learned to pull stuff off the filter inlet and eat it...lucky for him the filter inlet happened to be at the level he was able to swim at. This action also suggested to us that the mouth injury probably wasn't his primary problem. He very definitely wanted to eat--he just couldn't coordinate the actions required to eat at the surface or bottom. A couple weeks of this caused us to get past this being due to his mouth injury and we revisited why he was behaving as he did when he originally was injured and why he would flip his head around, spasm his top fins, or dart around the tank at random times since then. Perhaps he was doing it before the day he was injured and we didn't notice? The micro-slow downward progression caused a friend to think--parasites or worms! We had this Koi for at least eight months, however, he was not purchased where the others had come from. My friend said that could be enough time for a tape worm or other worm or parasite to grow to a point of being problematic and assured me that API General Cure would be safe for Blue and his mates. I did some research and quickly thought this could be one of those worms that get into their heads. We thought his fate might be sealed but ordered the API General Cure. Luckily for us this koi and the others were in an indoor wintering tank and not out in a big pond--so, we dosed the entire tank. We had to buy more than one box because one box does 100 gallons one time. (be sure to follow box instructions and remove carbon from filters before using this product) Two rounds need to be done. We gave the first dose to the entire tank and its occupants and the very next day (24 hours later) Blue was going to the top and successfully aiming and grasping food for himself! He was even able to grab pellets being tossed about by the wavemaker! Show off! He's not eating like his old self yet, but he's getting a lot more than he's been getting. He's lost quite a bit of weight in two weeks. It's very obvious when he's next to koi that were of his same size before all this happened. I suggest that if you have a fish that is showing a very micro-slow progression to the negative, that you consider that it could be parasites or worms. We will be giving them the second dose tomorrow. His improvement in 24 hours of time is remarkable! I can't thank my friend and API enough for saving our Blue! Hope this review helps someone else in return!

This product is really hard to get in Australia, but Amazon came through. Very good multi cure, best used by mixing with wet food and feeding. You will need heaps for most bigger tanks so the food method works better.

I use this every time I add new fish. Most fish will have some sort of internal or external parasite when you get them from the shops. This is excellent of ridding your fish of both! I always have this on hand. In this picture I’m setting up a new tank and a couple of the fish looked thin, had bloated bellies, and lacked color. I saw long strings of white mucous looking poop coming out of them which I’m sure is internal parasites. A couple days later, they were more active, feeding better, and their color improved! In the past I have also seen some of my fish have anchor worms dying and coming off of them. This is a MUST for any fish keeper and it will ensure healthy fish that will live a longer, healthier life.
