how to switch from °F to °C?

how many mats can be connected to this?

I have used these with a power splitter outlet into 2 mats and they work fine. The controler applies power till the programmed temperature is achieved then shuts off. Unit will cycle to maintain temps. I've heard the mats burn out frequently but with a controller I've never had a problem. I usually set for 54°F and tomatoes, peppers, tobbacco, leeks love it some plants pop up in 24 hrs. usually 2-3 days. A small low velocity fan will prevent damping(mold/mildews). Do not shut off heat and fan or damping will take hold in less than a day. And do not use anything other than sterile medium for seedlings/starts No fertilizers for couple weeks and definately no contaminates azomite will introduce spores/damping.

Is this a thermostat with a mat or does it work with any other mat?

It is just a thermostat. It works with anything heat outputting, like a heating lamp. The probe senses the temperature and turns the power on or off to whatever you plug into it.

Is the probe ok with saltwater ??

Instructions state "do not immerse temp probe in liquid" so no .

I read some reviews saying the thermostat did not read true. I took a chance and bought one last month for my seedling heat mat then ran a test when I got it. I set it to 80 for my mat with a cup of water on it. Put the thermostat thingy in the water and waited testing every so often. The thermostat read consistently .2 higher than my instant thermometer so good there. It shut off at 80.2 and turned back on at 79.5 - perfect. I was happy so I bought the second one I needed and it tested the same. I am very happy with these
