(see my review). I doubt if using it over 'painted' wood would be of value as you want the polycarbonate to penetrate into the end grain. I have facia boards that have been in place for more than 15 years and they show no signs of decay. I live in Mobile, AL. We get over 60 inches of rainfall a year. On facia work, I install clear, pressure treated wood. Once the ends are cut, I liberally treat the end grain. I then prime both sides of the board, including the cut, with an oil base (alkyd) primer. Lastly, I overcoat with one coat of the finish paint. Then I assemble and put the finish coat on the outside. Yes, it is a lot of trouble but years later the facias are still in like new condition. **Q: My question is two part: 1st; is this product clear? 2nd; has anyone used it for stabilizing small wooden pieces under vacuum?** A: Yes it is clear. Yes I have used it under vacuum on 3/4 X3/4 X2 1/4 inch pieces of wood. I make wood pens. DO NOT use it after you drill the hole and put in the brass tube. I does dissolve the epoxy glue. I left my vacuum over night. **Q: Can this be injector through carpet into a bad spot of wood?** A: This product loves to attack literally degrade and melt many plastic and man made materials as well as rubber like substances especially if they also have a plastic polymer in their formulation. Anyway carpet often has polyester and urethane materials not to mention foam backings or some kind of material painted over the back to stabilize it. This product most likely would attack all of those. Pull your carpet up from the edges rolling it back to where the wood needs treatment. Once it's dry and smoothed out then roll the carpet back and rent a stretcher to reapply the carpet properly back into place. Buy extra nail board if that was used along the sides of wall tow all carpet. Or glue strips of that was used instead. You also run the risk of super glued down carpet that hardens and sets to the wood and when you would need to replace the carpet it would tear bits of wood if not chunks of wood up with it as you tear the carpet or attempt to tear it out. So the best answer directly to your question is "NO." Treat the wood not the carpet. **Q: Is this water soluble?** A: It acts similar to CA (superglue) in that it displaces the water in the wood. Its great for fighting dry-rot in thresholds, mouldings, door casings, and window frames. it makes a huge mess if you spill in though! I use a small mixing container and a 1/2" disposable brush to apply it generously and then give it plenty of time to seep in and dry.
