Finish line is made of better materials and designed to be a production gun, while the Starting line is good for hobbyist, occasional use. I have had a Starting line set for 8 years, painted approx. 50 cars, and they are still spraying like new. Keeping ANY paint gun cleaned and maintained will make a world of difference. **Q: What is the CFM recommended for these guns?** A: i have 10 cfm at 90 psi i shoot no problem and 25 psi at the gun if you have a large tank you could paint with a 6 or above cfm at 90 psi **Q: Finish line vs starting line kit ? Want decent results keep reading mixed things about either. Suggestions? Basisc 2k priming, base, clear** A: I have used the starting line kit to spray some very difficult pearl orange base coats. It performed excellently with no blotching or tiger stripes. Of course I have been painting custom cars for 35 years and know how to spray control coats. I do not use my good guns to spray primer, I use cheapo H. F. guns to spray polyester primers and epoxies. Base coat and clear coats need a different size orifice but you can get by with just one if you know how to adjust your guns properly but switching out the fluid tip and needle is easy enough. Modern clears are pretty thin these days. Which ever set you buy test each gun and tips as soon as you get them (even cheapo guns from H. F.). Use solvent and adjust the gun and spray it on cardboard. If you get a nice pattern it is a good gun, if it is heavy on one side or the other send it back. You cannot adjust that out! Having a large gun and a smaller gun comes in way more handy than 2 guns of similar size. Make sure you take your guns apart right after each use and buy a squeeze bottle for solvent and a cleaning kit. ALWAYS put the gun back together after cleaning and only snug everything up, don't over tighten. Good luck **Q: Is there a certain way to take off the fluid tips? Ive tried holding the trigger while untightening but the tips wont budge on either gun.** A: Same problem, did come off but suspecting dried paint soaked briefly in lacquer thinner by putting several drops in where the cup screws on, point nozzle downwards. Be careful if you do put gun in vise, seems to me possible to break body with too much force sideways. Also lacquer thinner may compromise needle packing so not too much, point nozzle downwards leaving needle in place to keep things closed.
