Great shade, excellent quality
Summary: We had a 12 foot shade for our bedroom, but at that size, the lowest point was rather close to the house, inhibiting some air flow into the window. So we upgraded to this 16 foot version, which moved the base away, and increased the air flow noticably. The color we received was Pebble, and it is a nice neutral color; lighter than the last (which was a tan), and that actually increased the light in the room. Observations: 1) There was a seam, and I didn't notice it at first, but after putting it up, I decided to orient the seam horizontally rather than vertically; for both aesthetic as well as structural purposes (majority of the forces will be between the top two mounting points, so the seams going between them would be a natural ripping/failure point). 2) This is actually the 2nd Coolaroo product; these first being a dog bed. We were very impressed with the dog bed material, so I have no doubt that this sail shade will last with out a puppy running around on it. Recommendations: 1) When installing the shade, be sure the check that when the shade moves from wind, that it does not rub against anything; in my case, I had it too close to the roof edge, and had to reposition. 2) Lay out the orientation on the ground. 3) Use proper sail shade hardware. When I put up the first 12 foot sail, I just used 550 paracord, and cheap carabiners. But for this installation, I tried out two different Stainless Steel hardware sets. The Weitars was a little stronger/bigger, so I went with that over the Heleman set because of the larger sail size. Pros: Excellent quality, good fit & finish; each corner has cord already attached (can be removed if not needed, which I did); clear instructions. Cons: None. Conclusion: I ordered another one of these for the back of the house. Very much recommend this sail shade. This works really well for my purpose
I purchased the Coolaroo 11 foot 10 inch sail canopy to provide afternoon shade under a west facing gazebo. Installation was easy, about 30 minutes - just centered it on top of the gazebo, and wrapped the nylon ropes attached at each corner around the support structure. I may install 8 inch boat cleats on the gazebo and wrap the lines around those for a cleaner look. The area this shades is noticeably cooler without blocking all the light. So far it's weathered several southeast Texas summer wind and rain storms without needing any adjustment. The pebble color is good, and the fabric and stitching are strong. The shade is an equilateral triangle. The sides are curved inwards somewhat more than I'd expected from the pictures but that's not a deal breaker for me. I recommend this product. Update on 9/3/2014: The canopy has withstood the Texas heat and sun as well as the summer storms we've had this year. It looks like it did the day I installed it. Installing the boat cleats is still on my to-do list. Update on 9/3/2015: It survived a second summery of heat, sun, and storms without any rips or tears. The ropes are still attached and the seams are intact. The fabric looks a little worn close up, but it's not noticeable from the ground. I think it's amazing that it's still in one piece. Installing boat cleats is still on my to-do list.

Coolaroo 10’11x8 Rectangle in the shade “steel”
We originally purchased our pergola from ALDIS but the cover ended up getting ready bad dry rot ect from storms. My aunt suggested this one and I don’t regret it. Fits perfectly. Easy installation. Not as much shade cover as our last one but I actually like it not being completely blacked out for the sake of my plants that still need sunlight. Super durable. Good value and appearance! Does well with repelling rain ect. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a replacement or just one of these sails in general!

they do the job but not so easy to put up.
these do cut the sun as advertised and give a nice shady area, but be warned that you will probably need to do some thinking and planning before you try to put them up. We were trying to get coverage on a rectangular deck with three of these triangular shades and BOY did it take a lot of work to get them up and in the right place. Getting them tight enough to withstand our midwest rain and windstorms has not been easy. A lot of tweeking to get them tight enough and the right height with enough slope so the rain rolls off the side and not down on our heads. I think the quality seems good... we'll see how they withstand our weather, though. Wish they had come with some kind of hardware as I had to spend some bucks at the hardware store on bolts and hooks and tie downs to get them up securely. I'm no geometry major, but I now know that 3 equilateral triangles will not cover a rectangular space very well. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck scratching our heads and drinking Coronas trying to figure out how to get them up right. LOL! :) Wish I had just popped for the more expensive rectangular one and saved myself a LOT of hassle! Still, now that they are up they do look pretty cool. We got two Sand colored and one Mocha and overlapped them a bit for a nice look.

This is my second Coolaroo sunsail. Bought it November 2023 at Amazon in Spain. It replaced a 6 year old Coolaroo of the same "square" size which then tore at a middle seam. But 6 years is ok. This new one now did not come with the iron triangles at the corners but instead only fabric loops. I mounted it May 24 for the summer season, took it down for Winter in October and had just remounted it a week ago. There was some wind last night but not gale force. It ripped apart right at the fabric loop. Update: I contacted Coolaroo in Australia. Turned out that this "Ready to Hang" sunsail is the cheapest quality they produce. It is not designed for permanent or even semi-permanent rigging. Meaning: If there is some wind, maybe from a thunderstorm close by, you have to go out and rescue the sail. Of course nobody writes that into the description at Amazon. On top of this, I learned that this sail here is supposed to be sold only in the US. That is why the measures are in feet and inch. For guarantee purposes Amazon gives you a link of the manufacturer Coolaroo/Gale Pacific in Australia. Since I am in Spain and the sunsail was never supposed to be sold there, I had a problem. They claimed that they could not make the US organization replace a sail in Europe. And Spain has it's own resellers like Optimus, Ymas, Coinfer who of course would not replace my torn US sail. YOu better go out and buy from these resellers directly to avoid this trap. And Amazon? You should do something about not misleading your trusty clients. It was only for the dedicated work of the absolutely fantastic European Sales Manager from Coolaroo that I was sent a replacement out of his personal stock. I give him 6 stars, 2 stars to Coolaroo for the usefulness of the product itself (who wants to rig a sail of that size and then pull it down as soon as the wind goes into a medium range) and no star to Amazon for leading customers into that trap.

Awesome shade sail. Permeable material so rain doesnt pool on it. Replaced the poly rope with aluminum caribeeners and coated steel cables for maximum tension to keep it from flapping in the wind. Much cheaper solution for a hot deck rather than ridged awnings or erect-a-set gazeebos that will get destroyed in high wind environments. Will be buying a few more to stagger them across the deck for a resort-style spa look. Having just one looks like a giant thong suspended in the air. The neighbors will be so jealous!

We have not used the shade sail yet but will this summer. It seems very well made and we have other Coolaroo products that we have been using for years. We love the roll down shades. They work excellent!
