For those you are DIY individuals who happens to be DirecTV subscriber, this item is essential to convert the legacy system to SWM system. SWM allows you to set-up Whole Home DVR system and use the existing single RG6 cable to each room in your house.As signal comes in to the TV signal distribution box, this special splitter is needed to distribute the amplified signals from SWM box.This product is great and also was sent promptly by the seller.Pro: works as promised.Con: none; you need 90 degree F-Connector for the DC powered input to make the installation tidy.Recommended to buyers who understands the way SWM signal system works.

DirecTV tends to leave you with a splitter sized for the number of boxes you have, but this is a pain if you have a centralized wiring closet and move your boxes from time to time. I got this to replace the one DirecTV left me, which I believe is a 3/4 port. I plugged this one in with the same power inserter and it is working perfectly. The only comment I have is I am not sure if this is actually an 8 port or not, since the power inserter plugs into one of the ports (top-left red port). Not sure if that can be used for a TV so it may really be a 7-way splitter only.
