How is the spark produced is it battery or what? Thank you.

It is not battery. I do not know what it is but there has never been a problem with the spark. My problems had to do with the cap, the strength of the jet flame and the structure of it, after some time. They always replaced it though.

Is the button easy to press? (i have arthritis)

The button slides down smoothly and with very little effort.

Should the black caseing be loose

No.had no problem with mine. It's a great lighter

Do i need buy the gas separately

Yes, you do. You can buy them for £1 or so from home bargains or pretty much any shop. The lighter fluid is very cheap.
