OREI 4K HDMI Matrix Switch 2 X 2, Switcher 18G UltraHD Supports Upto 4K @ 60Hz & 1080P IR EDID HDCP 2.- Remote Control (UHDS-202)

Many like me are infuriated with the hdmi upgrades that render older but excellent av amps less useful. The inability to pass hdcp and 4k video but only able to just process soundtrack is a battle to ones new 4k projector. Unlike the 4k Sony Blu-ray that has dual output one for sound, the 4k fire stick was proving a challenge without spending a fortune on a new 4k av amp. I tried various versions of switches and sound splitters that did the job but reduced the picture quality. This unit appears to function as I needed. It allows the sound of the fire stick to be split out at the same time to send a good 4k picture to the projector, although I'm using the optical out to the amp for the fire stick. The 4k player is also plugged in for picture only that I switch between the fire stick or 4k player for video at the required 4k. I still need to switch the amp between the two for sound processing. Don't try to send the second hdmi out to a 1080p amp as both of the video signal will be down converted, hence I use the optical for fire stick sound. This unit has four hdmi in and two out, and an audio optical out, as well as a jack out. My set up is a bit faffy but it'll work until I can afford a new decent av amp.

As expected

Great piece of kit, well constructed and easy to set up. It is very small, bit longer than smart phone and twice as thick. I use it to connect 3 sources, ROKU, STB and blu ray player to a TV or projector with the audio going out via optical spdif to soundbar. Won't work with HDMI arc or earc soundbars though, but this should be clear from the product pictures. Need to set the EDID switches to match your set up, the guide explains how. Seemed a little pricey as other versions available at half cost but very good quality and should last. Image and sound all good, no dropouts so far.

Initially very pleased with this matrix, great displays and sound, switching worked as I wanted. It may be a coincidence but after just a few uses the HDMI output of my laptop has stopped working. It is definitely a failed HDMI port and not a cable or monitor problem. As I said it could just be coincidence but I find it very suspicious happening so soon after connecting this device.

It works like a charm

This product worked originally... however... now I'm trying to use it with products that are 4K and also a 1080P projector the picture continually drops outs and then recovers; obviously this is totally unacceptable. I know this device is the culprit as when it is removed from the connection everything works fine; it is the weak link in the data transfer and probably is incompatible with the latest generation of HDMI requirements. I understand for example that if the 5v or the clock is omitted then this results either in no data transfer or recognition by the target that the feed is there. I've tried boosting the signal but this is no good either. Additionally it fails when using Sky box HD channels but works fine on SD which kind of makes the whole set-up a waste of money. I have therefore had to remove this switch from the system and use as a door stop. For now, until I can get verification that there is a switch which doesn't introduce degradation of picture failure, my connections are back to hard wired and manually switch when required.

Good product.Easy connectivity but unable to control the volume of the sound bar after connecting it to optical out,other than that it works pretty good.

I use it for a document camera and a computer input and 2 projectors for outputs. This switch had improved how I teach in class. A benefit to the students.
