Rit Dye Color Remover Powder safely removes or lightens fabric color before dyeing. It's handy for removing dye stains from whites washed by mistake with colored items.

Review: I love my vintage Gaelic Red Sox shirt but barely wore it because of the color. I decided to grab some of the Rit Color Remover and a bottle of Rit Kelly Green dye and see what I could do, with fingers crossed. The removal process was easy. I filled up a stock pot with 3 gallons of water, added two boxes for assurance and heated on the stove to just over 200 degrees. I soaked and wrung out the shirt, added and stirred constantly for just over 20 minutes and the color went from dark green to a grayish blue. I then rinsed it in warm to cold water and put through a wash of warm water and detergent. The shirt came out a pale army green. I then followed with the dye and fixative process. As you can tell by the picture, it was a success. I am very happy with how incredibly well the color remover works and highly recommend it.

**Q: We had color bleed onto screen printed numbers on my son's football jersey.  Could this take the dye out of the numbers without ruining the jersey?**
A: It would most likely remove the dye from the whole thing not just the run off part

**Q: Have lavender towels that got washed with a red towel and dried. Is there hope this will work?**
A: This is a color remover treatment.  It will remove BOTH the lavender and red colours, and you will end up with everything that has a grey to yellow colour. If they are very valuable towels, you can then redye them with a lavender dye, and then set it with RIT dye colour set which is a marvelous product. If the towels weren't that valuable, I'd probably give them to an SPCA shelter or goodwill shop and buy new ones.

**Q: A black ink pen snuck into the washer with white sheets.  Will this product remove ink from pen?**
A: For ink stains, you need to spray hairspray on the ink. Once it starts to dissolve, then rinse off with water.

**Q: Will it work on a White polyester shirt that went dingy from being mistakenly washed with a dark load?**
A: Yes, I had white polyester slacks that got covered with iron ore dirt and this is the ONLY thing that made them white again. Besure you use a big pot with boiling water and the Rit Color Remover in it.

ONLY WORKS WITH STOVE TOP METHOD!!!! I stupidly put a red tie dye sock in with my mixed laundry and everything turned pink. Tried the washing machine method and did nothing. Then I did the stove top method and within 3 min everything was white again. Good stuff. Highly toxic and smells terrible. Do it outside.
