Are these more puncture resistant than the very popular Continental Gatorskins?

All you have to do is look at the Continental web site. The "5000" is a very fast tire with "good" puncture protection. The Gaterskin is a slower tire with outstanding puncture protection. While the "gaterskin hardshell" is their top of the line in puncture protection. You trade speed and weight for puncture protection. It is a trade off. The fastest tires have half the protection, but also half the rolling resistance. Speed, punture resistance and ride comfort also depend on if you have 25mm or 32mm and the amount of pressure you use You can trade off one thing for another.
