This is an amazing little gadget that will make your kitchen life easier! The can opener mechanism opens lids so smoothly and completely, then the handy 'lid grabber' plucks the lid right off the can. It is so easy with no mess of liquids spilling. Just used the pull-tab opener feature and it is equally impressive. These are not the easiest cans to open, especially when opening several at a time. This makes that task almost enjoyable and, once again, no mess! We have a string-pull chopper by Kuhn Rikon that has been going strong for 10+ years so I am not surprised this company makes a top notch multi-function can opener, as well!

I just celebrated my 9 year wedding anniversary and realized the other night, after nearly breaking my wrist trying to open a can of kidney beans, that our can opener was a wedding gift. It's your typical can opener, the basic kind that cuts a jagged lid off, very hard to use--literally the world's worst can opener. I hate it. It's really stupid that it took me 9 full years of a horrible can opener to finally purchase a GOOD one, but at least when I replaced my evil can opener I picked the WORLD'S BEST can opener! The Kuhn Rikon--a brand I've never heard of--seemed to have the best reviews on Amazon as far as can openers go. When I slammed down my half-opened can of kidney beans with my sprained wrist the other night, I headed straight to my computer and made the most impulsive purchase of my life--within 60 seconds I had ordered this one (after very quickly scanning reviews). It arrived today and I've opened several cans with it already. Wow! What a difference it is to use something that is not only a total piece of junk, but a genius product! Let me say, after reading the very few negative reviews, I am absolutely certain that most negative reviewers did not read the directions before trying to use this Kuhn Rikon can opener. This can opener functions a bit differently than any other one I've ever seen, but once you read the instructions thoroughly, it's a dream to use. It locks on top of the can (not onto the side) after a twist to 3 o'clock clockwise. From there you just make the round once on the can, turning the handle clockwise. Once you get all the way around, you twist the handle COUNTER clockwise just a bit to release the can. From here, it's hard to pry off the lid just with your fingers, but no worries, the Kuhn Rikon has it figured out for you: a little addition to the side (looks like a bird's beak) easily grips the lid and pulls it right off. You'll have to give it a try to see how clever this can opener is, but what I love so much about it is that: 1. The edges on both the can and the lid are cut smooth, I would let my 4 year old use this can opener. No worries about cuts here! I can now also scrape my silicone spatula in a can without it being sliced up. (Going to be buying a new spatula now too.) 2. The can opener never touches any food, making cross contamination and filthy, rusted can openers a thing of the past. 3. Your fingers also don't have to get messy, touching the lid once detached is never necessary. The Kuhn Rikon does it all for you. There is also a pointy part at the other end of this tool for opening up ring-top cans with ease, a beer bottle opener, and an opener for twisting lids off small bottles. A multi-tasking tool to be sure. I wish I had bought this can opener 9 years ago. I can't believe I've spent all this time injuring myself over a stupid can opener when here the Kuhn Rikon cuts my cans open like buttah. Recommended to anyone and everyone. LOVE this product.

I have two can openers that open cans up this way, without the sharp edges. I have a pampered chef one I bought back in 2006 or 2007, that I knew would work with my hands, because I tested it at the pampered chef party. My husband had also picked up a non-brand name one, but doesn't work as well as my pampered chef one for my hands. I use it for traveling since it was much cheaper, in case I ever lost it. Well, my pampered chef one gave up the ghost. I have to go around twice to get it to work right. It really has served me well. But, it has gotten to the point that it hurts my hands to use it, turning the thing, and having to go around twice! Yikes! NO! AND we are in COVID - so going to a party, well, people don't do that any more. I was in a bind. I read all reviews on these type of can openers and reluctantly decided on this brand, mainly because I trust THIS BRAND NAME, their other products I have, (salt/pepper grinders, peelers), work very well, and last years and years. This can opener did not disappoint. It is easy to use, easy to latch onto the can, easier to turn, easy to release. It helps that this is not my first can opener of this type. As for the other stuff - I had my doubts. But, they do work VERY well! I tested a water bottle first thing...it worked! Twisted off like a charm, no need for me to haul myself to the man cave when I want a bit of cold water to drink from a bottle. One day I needed to use the ring top puller, (that pointy thing in the end - which doesn't really poke at me in the drawer when I reach in, like I thought it might). That was much easier than I imagined. MUCH easier than using a butter knife blade, or a screw driver tip. OMG! Terrific! Smooth as butter. I thought it would be a bit tough to slide the pointy tip under the pull top circle to get it raised off the can lid, but it wasn't! It worked at my first attempt. Just a few days ago, there I was, in the kitchen, staring at a jar of olives. Should I haul out the small strap wrench for the small lid? Those strap wrenches are better on larger lids, and too much of a hassle to use no matter what size the lid is when I can just march my jar into the man cave on the other side of the house to get it opened, (providing said man cave is occupied at the moment). I remembered my new can opener. OH my it was too easy. I popped the side under the lid, broke the seal, and there I was - marching myself to the man cave to show off my achievement. Now, I don't drink soda, and hubby doesn't drink beer from a bottle, so that that bottle opener function I have not tested. But, I'm sure THAT works as it should.

Very sturdy opener. It's easy to open cans and bottles and it is easy to hold - even with my arthritic hands. It's well worth the cost .

Love the can opener, couldn't find this at any store so purchased this online. Love that the can opener is compact with many features. My favorite feature is opening the can is easy (instructions are included). At first you are confused how you place it on the can, but it is easy and you will feel it once it latches on then just anti-clockwise to take it off. It is amazing as you can lift the lid off with no sharp edges. Only one thing I wish it has was a magnet to lift of the lid from the can (so you don't have to remove it yourself). Best buy and best can opener I've owned.

I spent 30 mim try to open a big can of cassoulet. The cut is not uniform and I nedded to pass it over and over again. At the end I only got it partial opened and I needed to use something to help me to fold the cover. I hope there are not pieces of metal in my food...
