Does this dvd player play dvds from the UK?

It played the cartoon dvd from region 2 which I believe is UK. It worked great.

Does this unit display subtitles?

Yes it does display subtitles. It is actually a very nice player. Easy to use and set up.

Will this play dvds from the australia region?

It should play them. It is supposed to be Multi Region. I believe this means you can change regions a limited number of times. I am not sure if it works because I have not tried any regions except the USA

Are the instructions in English?

Yes instructions are in English. But it is really self explanatory. And the menus from the device itself (on screen) are in English but can be adjusted. I don't know to which other languages.
