Box is standard cardboard box (like a sturdy cereal box) and appears 100% plastic free, yes it appears to be fully recyclable, no there is no plastic bag or liner inside the box.

Can this be used in he washers and if so, does it go in with the clothing? i don't think i can put powder in the detergent tank in my washer.

I put it in first with the water, let it desolve, add clothes then detergent. My washer is not an HE but it makes sense to disolve the borax first.

Love the stuff but why would anyone pay this, when the exact same thing costs $8.94 at Walmart? Maybe someone is reselling this?

Its the same as it costing $8.94 from Walmart and it being a different price somewhere else, as with any other product.
