"It is a miracle that any one man should have observed, read, and written down so much in a single lifetime." — Kenneth Clark, art historian and Leonardo da Vinci biographer A perfectionist in his artwork, Leonardo da Vinci studied nature and anatomy to produce amazingly realistic paintings. Using scientific methods in his investigations of the human body — the first ever by an artist — he was able to create remarkably accurate depictions of the "ideal" figure. This exceptional collection of 59 precise, detailed drawings reprints Leonardo's sketches, still considered the finest ever made, of the skeleton; vertebral column; skull; upper and lower extremities; cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems; human embryos; and other subjects. The volume will be a welcome addition to the libraries of artists, illustrators, and scientists.

Cool!
Saw a super cute wall decoration on Pinterest where they took technical drawings and framed and put them all over the wall. Bought these to try it! The illustrations are nice and the paper quality is good too. I just gotta find the time to do it now!

Great Visuals, But No Translations
I am giving this product 4 stars because it was well set up and presented. I with-held the 5th star because it did not contain any sort of text about what Da Vinci had written at the sides or any real sort of side notes about the images, which I thought would have made this collection perfect.I bought this book because of my own study of medicine and the human body, and being an artist at heart I was interested in Da Vinci's own illustrations of the human body. I am happy to say that this book was not lacking in that and I am held amazed by the precise representations illustrated. Until I am able to find a book suiting my own strict criteria, I would say this is a must buy for those interested in anatomy and in art, and would like to hearken back to the Renaissance when this anatomical illustrations would have been considered state of the art, calling back to the genius of men such as Galen.

From a H.S. Teacher
I honestly expected to have a WOW moment while reading this and using it to teach. However, that didn't happen, it's interesting and valuable to someone who bows at Leonardo's feet however, I was irritated that I paid "so much" for it.

Nice prints, but by the look of the cover ...
Nice prints, but by the look of the cover I was expecting a sepia tone on them, but the contents were in black and white. Bought this book to use various prints for an art project. It has served its purpose.

Meh, not so much
It's Dover, so I wasn't excpecting a masterpiece, but it was a little less than average.

Muss also gepasst haben.
