Was not able to line up the score line exactly. The boiling water/ice water bath worked ok breaking the glass, but because the score line was uneven, the separation was uneven. You'd have to be very crafty to separate the glass. The backstop was not the problem. Because the 4 rollers were fixed, it is hard to rotate the bottle evenly. It wobbles during rotation which results an uneven score line . I missed the return date so cannot return. I think I was skeptical that this contraption would work. If uou buy it, try it immediately. I may try it again later, but for me, now, it was a waste of money.

This is the quality of something you'd make in shop class when you were 10 or 11. Probably is made by a ten year old. It's such poor quality that even if it were put together right, there would still be no chance it would ever work as described in the instructions. It's blunt Cannot cut glass It's crooked. No way you could make a straight cut. The wheel spacing leave you with very few diameters of bottle that could possibly work, Rollers are so loose they don't hold anything true. Rollers are spaced so far apart lengthwise, if it did work, it would only do so with very long bottles. Despite having measurements from 0-7 inches along the body, the rollers are spaced so far apart, the smallest section you can get is about 4 inches from the end of a very long bottle. Large wine bottle only... if it worked, but it's made so poorly, it simply can't work.

Poorly manufactured product. 1) One of the screws would not screw into the base of the cutting device. 2) One of the rubber bands snapped while pouring the boiling water over the scored area of the bottle. 3) The bottle guide doesn’t allow you to cut bottles shorter than 4 inches and is also difficult to hold the bottle steady while rotating the bottle. 4) Finally, cutter doesn’t work well with thick bottles. Overall, a waste of money.

I never like to leave negative reviews, but I decided to write this because Xmas is coming soon and I would hate for someone to buy this as a gift only to have the recipient be disappointed. I am an avid crafter and I was really excited to try out this bottle cutter! When I received the product and opened the box it comes in, however, I immediately noticed that it was poorly made and that some key parts were crooked. Cutting glass cleanly requires accuracy, especially when cutting round glass bottles. The rollers on the product I received are crooked, and more importantly the cutter head itself is not mounted squarely. I decided to try it out just to be sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me. I followed the instructions and ended up with a crazy, jagged score line that wasn’t even close to straight. Total bummer! Maybe if the pieces I mentioned could be adjusted/calibrated by the user then I could have adjusted it myself? Unfortunately they are firmly attached so I’m basically stuck with a useless product. I didn’t bother to return it because I do like the gloves and the handheld cutter it comes with, and I didn’t want to wait only to get another wonky, defective item.

This has to be the biggest piece of crap I’ve purchased on Amazon. First, nothing is square. The rollers are crooked the cutting head is crooked the measurement guide and everything else. Looks like it was put together by a 5 year old. Second, the used flat head screws for everything instead of pan head so non of the screws sit flush because the roller bases don’t have a beveled hole. Third, the ruler measurements on the board don’t line up with the cutting wheel so that make the unit of measurement useless. Might as well not have them. Fourth, there is not cutting oil supplied. Lastly, there is no assembly instructions and parts supplied are not shown on the pamphlet with the unit so I have no idea what they are for. If you are mechanically inclined and want to buy a cheap cutter for one use that you don’t want to spend a lot on, this is for you. If you want a device to keep and use for multiple jobs with accurate results, look elsewhere. UPDATE: the company Sent me a very nice message and apologized for the poor quality of the unit provided and provided me with a full refund without sending the item back. The company cares and was very responsive. So 100% company customer service support.

After using the cutter on 4 bottles, 2 of the screws for the sliding bar got stuck in the holes and when I tried to spin them out, they pulled the nuts out of the wood base. Now the cutter is basically useless.

It cut one bottle correctly, then all the rest cracked. I should have carefully read previous reviews instead of buying for the price.
