Range adjustments, to place the sprinker and then adjust where the spray goes to not waste water where not wanted. Material - deposits on parts in contact with water foul more slowly than metal, if at all. Reservation, not dislike: It's PVC plastic. PVC gets brittle when aged, especially where subject to UV light from the sun.
