Won't this do the same thing ?** A: I don’t recommend this product AT ALL. The cylindrical mesh filter/strainer is poorly spot welded, such that it came apart after only a few uses. That, and the lid does not seal well to the glass rim, so you can count on spills just moving it around when full. **Q: Would this work for tea too? I assume yes because it's the same concept but just asking...** A: Yes - this works for tea as well. **Q: why does this say 8 cups /1000 ml. Acup of water is 236 ml so that equals a little under 4cups?** A: 8 "cups" referring to Japanese Standard cup size which is smaller than U.S. cup size. Product has a practical Capacity 1000ml **Q: Can I buy just the glass jug/carafe?** A: I had this question for Hario as well because my carafe broke and unfortunately, they told me they did not offer replacements for this item. It's also not as much liquid volume, but it is excellent quality glass and works well as an alternative vessel.
