Great Refresher
It has been many years since I have played the flute. I bought this book as a refresher. It contains a fingering chart which was very helpful. It has been helpful in picking back up the flute. I do not think this would be a good book for someone first learning to play the flute if they don't have previous musical experience with reading music and theory.

Very useful good quality

Perfectly challenging for a beginner.
I played the French Horn in high school. I've been missing music so I decided to teach myself the flute. The Rubank book is great. I also bought the same elementary method boo we used in grade school band. The Rubank is actually challenging me enough to move through the other book faster. You can tell the Rubank is prepping you for playing solo pieces.

Works well, but it doesn’t help without a teacher helping you.
This book teaches you all kinds of things. I use this book with my teacher and it’s amazing. I don’t recommend buying without having someone teaching you along the way. Also the book is easy to break. The cover broke after a month.

Excellent Method...a Blast From the Past
After obtaining a 50s era flute at a silent auction and having it reconditioned, I looked for a flute method that I could use to teach myself to play. The Rubank Method popped up and I was immediately flooded with memories from my childhood in the 60s when my music teacher used this method to teach me the clarinet. I recalled it as an effective (and fun) method with some pretty interesting drills. I immediately ordered all the flute books in the series from beginner to advanced vol. 2. I had previously ordered two other flute method books and was disappointed...too much history and music theory and no logical sequential approach to learning. I can't begin to convey how excited I am to have found this method...even the cover is exactly the same...and the price can't be beat. This series is a "must" for any serious student of the flute.

Great book to start with
Recommended to me by a flute instructor. The fingering chart is very helpful. Now, if only I can find time to practice.

Good starter
i purchased this book along with the intermediate and advanced books just in case i would get bored too quickly with the elementary level. I played for 6 years but stopped. I have been a serious hobbyist with my flute for 2 years. I wanted to play more intermediate to advanced pieces but lacked the technical experience. I am currently using the elementary level book slowly. As the days went by, I moved through the book quickly but with better accuracy and speed. I can't wait to finish it and move on to the intermediate book. Until I can start taking lessons again,...this book is just what I need. Thanks Rubank!

Método muy practico.
Método ideal para principiantes, ejercicios prácticos y de buen avance con el instrumento, claro y de buen tamaño, lo recomiendo.

La piccolo es La Travesera, en miniatura. Este es el Libro revisado, sería, más bien, travesera 1. Vale para las dos. Revisado por profesional, para la picola (que no soy yo, el que la revisado). Y entonces, vamos a aprender piccola. También, porque es una flauta muy divertida, que se esconde entre los músicos. ¡Ya he destapado, al músico diver de una Orquesta! EL PICCOLO.
