I am not knowledgeable in the NSF standards. I bought this because it looked like it would work and was easy to install. **Q: Installed, flushed carbon particles for 5 minutes. Now, the filter feels heavy, and outflow has reduced to a drip. What is wrong?** A: I really don't know--almost sounds like you have some particles that are plugging your 1/4 inch line. You might have to disconnect the 1/4" line and see if it is plugged (run some air or something through it or if it is short just blow it out. Also, you might try shaking the filter itself. Some particles might be plugging the outlet side. Please note that I bought my filter to place under the sink to filter the water going to my fridge. I use it more as a backup to my fridge filter. I am no expert--I bought this because it sounded like it would work. It comes with several fittings to accommodate different options for connecting. I attached the filter to the back of my refrigerator with the zip ties provided, my water line is through the cabinet and the flexible tube is long enough so I can still pull my refrigerator out to clean or replace the filter. There were no leaks when I turned the water on and I flushed it well before connecting to the refrigerator. The water quality in my area is not good so I’m happy that I now have filtered water and ice.
