The Body Shop Cactus Long Handle Body Brush

I bought my first The Body Shop cactus brush over 20 years ago and have been buying them ever since. For a short period of time they stopped making them in the US and I panicked!!!! Thankfully I found them in a London airport location, bought 2, and used them probably longer than I should have...until they were being sold here in the US again. Dry brushing is amazing and the health benefits are well-documented. You can take one of these brushes that's had a day or so to dry out from your last shower, and before you get wet, give yourself a vigorous full-body scrub with the bristles. It feels rough but you get used to it, and your skin and muscles will thank you for it! For cleaning, these can't be beat. I use them with soaps, bath gels, you name it. Just rinse it out thoroughly, sanitize regularly, and don't let them stay wet after use. They'll last up to 2 years.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't notice any weird smells. Good sturdy handle, good sturdy bristles. I've been using it regularly for a few months now. the bristles are pretty aggressive, I found that they work great everywhere but my sensitive tum tum and my neck. If i have self-discipline that day, I can go real light in those areas (and my face) and it's fine. Someday I'll try a medium bristle like boar's hair because I'm not so sure the extra coarseness of cactus is absolutely necessary. I did buy a cactus bristle w/o the handle for my face, but honestly this one brush can handle it all.

best brush ever. by far. the cactus stands up, i was skeptical. but am glad that this brush has been keeping up with daily usage in the shower. i use a brush head to toe in wet and this guy is a winner. 20+ year i have used brushes and the have alway been the 2 piece variety, which for me have never served any purpose and the few one pieces i have tried have been flimsy in the handle making the application of pressure on the back impossible. this broad headed one piece really stands up. the shorter broad handle still has enough reach for me to get every bit of my back. the cactus is good and stiff (i could use it a little stiffer but that would be because i enjoy a very stiff brush) it has not lost shape or form and is great. i will buy this again and again, i am very glad to have found it.

Made in Germany. As some reviewers have said, the handle is on the short side, but I have found it to be just long enough. Since it is a one piece brush, there is no chance that the head will go flying off in the shower as the made in China ones tend to do. The handle is also thicker than the China ones. This makes the handle feel better in my hand. The bristles were stiff when new, but they have either become softer with use or I have grown to like them. After a month of use, there is some black staining on the wood where the bristles attach. I had been hanging the brush on a hook to dry. I now dry it flat on a towel with the bristles down. The brush seems to dry better this way.

I've been using these brushes for almost a decade now, and I buy a new one every 8-10 months or so (they say it's good to change them up after awhile). They are sturdy, and really make the skin feel great after using. The fact the brush doesn't disconnect is key as well because the more you scrub, the brush never dislodges from the stick (hence falling on your foot and hurting like hell!!!). I've used a lot of other companies, but this is the best hands down. I highly recommend this product.

I’ve purchased about 5 to 6 of these since 2019. Some last a while, while others within several months start to delaminate. They are originally touted as dry use brushes, but somewhere in the product description or ID the term “shower” is used. They are in fact really not for use in a wet environment. They WILL delaminate over time and develop mold sooner than that. The most recent brush I purchased at the beginning of November, has already had its top layer delaminated and the rough glued wood exposed underneath. Probably the fastest one of the brushes have fallen apart for me. That being said, I AM using it in the shower, and I have hard water. In short, these brushes need to be kept dry as often as possible, and have limited shower use. I’ve used them for so long despite the delaminating issues because they are the roughest brushes I can possibly find to really scrub the everlasting f*** out of myself in the shower. But, these brushes seem to have decreased quality assessment before they leave the factory, and are delaminating sooner and sooner. They need to be explicit that they are NOT to be used in the shower if you want them to last. Remove any id tag of “shower” from anywhere in the listing. Also… they sometimes smell like BO or onions from the factory. What’s up with that?!

This is the best body brush. The other ones sold on Amazon have bristles that are too short, so you end up banging your body with the support. I love the Body Shop brush, and because they are reducing their operations in many countries, it is hard to find.

I have been purchasing Body Shop brushes for a long time to use in the shower. They were great for a couple years and then they weren't for a while. The problem with old brushes when they were bad would be the wood would delaminate. I've tried other brushes, but none have come close to the quality and feel that the Body Shop brush used to deliver. Now with this brush, they're back. It's advertised as a dry exfoliating brush, but it is used in the shower and works great and should last with proper care. I've used it each day a few months now and it's still in great shape and does not exhibit any mold growth. Great value as either a dry exfoliating brush or a wet shower brush.
