Stetson Men's Gable Rain Safari Hat

Absolutely love this hat. Was just what I was looking for. Very stylish, well made, and great material. If there's any complaint it's that it's just a shade large. I've worn a Medium (and in Stetsons) for years but this seems a bit big. My concern is that if I tried to return it and get a small, that would be too small. The solution? I added some self-adhesive backed weatherstripping inside the sweat band (just at the front of the hat) and that helps it fit perfectly!. I had some 1-inch around and thought I'd try it, and I'm glad I did. Now I can wear this pretty much when ever I want and not be concerned about the wind blowing it off my head. Would definitely buy another one of these, but I expect this one to last me a long time.

I was looking for a hat to replace my umbrella. Instead I now have a daily driver! This thing is stylish, fits well, and the perfect style for those who want a reasonable brim, without looking too "cowboy-esque". It has a modern, yet old school look to it, and works well with a T-shirt, or dress shirt.Since it's not wool, it doesn't soak up water. It does a decent job of repelling it, which I was surprised by. Keeps the sun out of the eyes, without warming up the head, but I'm not sure how it'll do in the winter, seeing as how it's designed for warmer months and climate. I'll try to update this review for the winter months, when they come back around, to see if it has any use then.

I was impressed with the quality of this hat's construction. And it looked nice as well. Stylish and practical, combined. But as many others have noted, the sizing is quite far off. Having read others' reviews, i measured myself several times to get the averaged size; that was squarely in the "large" hat size range. But the actual hat was far to big. The other odd aspect, also noted by others, is the shape of the opening. It makes contact with your head at the front and back, but not along the sides. And its rigid enough of a construction that if the size were more 'right' for one's head, it feels like it would pinch at those points.

I've had one of these hats for many years but is now showing its age. Even though I purchased it as rain wear and NOT a fashion statement, I receive compliments on it nonetheless from time to time. I have been shopping for a new rain hat for months but found nothing better than the "Stetson Men's Gable Rain Safari Hat."

After buying over 10 different hats I knew I had to buy another one. They give comfort and air on my bald head which is why I only buy this brand. I am lucky to find it on line. It repels rain and the sun. Keeps its shape always even after many years. This is the best, even better than Panama Jack. I wash it in my dishwasher and let it dry in outside when I think it needs it, but don't use soap or a heated dry cycle. Between washing times I use a paper towel and clean the inside rim that touches the forehead. It makes a statement that your not an imitation hat user. Your the man.

I have previously had Stetson rain hats that performed beautifully. The proper size was ordered and what arrived has the same size markings as previous Stetsons but on the head it has been way too large. (and my head is not small) The most disturbing part of the hat however is the manner in which it was received. The shipping box was the right size however the packer smashed the hat in order to allow for foam wrap to 'protect' the hat. In the past my previous Stetson rain hats held their shape as new for years on end. The new hat looks like it been used for a pillow for 5 years! Sad

The quality of the hat is what I expected from a company like Stetson no disappointment there. The hat does run big in size but that was fortunate for me. Blessed with a huge size 8 head, but the XXL fits perfectly. Buying another before they make size corrections.Note shipping and packaging was a disappointment. It came smashed into a small box. Luckily it retained shape but the leather band did suffer a couple scuffs. Not the fault of Stetson but rather Amazon so in my mind still a five star rating.

So the first thing you should know is that it says that the listing says "Gable" model but when you order the khaki color, you're going to get a "Eugene" model Stetson. It's probably no big deal, like six of one, a half dozen of the other, but it was a little disconcerting. Second thing you should know is that, like a lot of the other reviews state, seriously consider ordering a size down from usual. I'm glad that Prime(tm) has the free return thing going on because I swapped out to get the next smaller size.All that said, it's a great hat - excellent quality for the money. Nice look, nice quality.
