Silicone is too flexible to cut butter or things in pan, while food sticks to nylon like glue.** A: Not sure of the difference in the material. It is stiff enough to cut butter and I have had to rub a bit to clean the tip when dried egg was on it. This is nice more because the shape makes it easy to turn an egg in the pan. **Q: Does this work good for fried potatoes?** A: Hello !! I love the quality of this spatula, it’s a universal cooking tool, would be nice to have two one wider for larger frying pans.
