The rubbery outside material keeps it from slipping out of your hands or however you are holding it, and the weight seems to be accurate (I bought a 3lb weight), to be perfect for my exercise. I haven't had it long enough to vouch for its durability but think it will last at least a year using it daily.

these two pound toning balls are great props that can make some exercises more challenging and others easier. they are not too heavy and about right for either sex, although generally speaking (forgive me for stereotyping) some men will prefer the heavier three pounders and some women will opt for the one pounders. when you've learned an exercise without the toning balls, it can increase the challenge and strength. for roll ups, when you want a heavier counter-balance, the balls will reduce the challenge and give you hope.

I attended a Barre class and the instructor used these balls for toning and a great workout. I purchased these for home use and they are great. It order to strengthen my hamstrings, I just place it behind my knee in a lift/hold. It works well.
