It definitely is fiber
It is nice to take a break from the orange flavoring they have with the original one, and the sugar does help it go down easier, but please for your sanity DO NOT DRINK THIS WITH JUST PLAIN WATER. I like to mix it up in flavored water with those sugar free drops that let me control what flavor the water is without suffering from raw dogging the unflavored powder because that will taste like drinking a glass of sand. Next time I'll try out the clear blend without any sugar to see if there's a difference, but this bottle will last a while. Also be gradual with introducing it into your diet and work up to a few teaspoons throughout your day to not overload your body. All that aside, it works well and my body feels more comfortable with the extra fiber in my life. I highly recommend some form of this because it's really tough to get enough fiber in many diets.

It's that terrible. Sure I could add it to smoothie or ...
I originally started off with the orange flavor with the real sugar and wanted to move to this version to reduce the amount of sugar. I've tried other fiber supplements before than they never seemed to have any affect. This however, makes me have the quickest and cleanest poops ever. It does not make me go any more or less than before, it just comes out faster and goes by the "leave no trace behind" mantra (for the most part). Make no mistake, this is still about 90% sugar (4 grams of sugar is roughly equal to one teaspoon; 2 teaspoons of this metamucil is 7 grams of sugar), but in my mind, it is essential to downing psyllium husk/powder. Originally, I wanted to cut out the sugar completely and purchased pure psyllium husk powder. The taste was god awful and I gave up after nearly throwing up several times while taking one serving. It's that terrible. Sure I could add it to smoothie or something that tastes good but then I'm back to the excessive sugar problem. This plain version of the metamucil is still not very appetizing (actually it's unappetizing) but it is entirely doable. If you have no issues with amount of sugar in the orange version I would stick with that.

yet I know avoiding the painful process would only make things harder (pun intended)
After a few extremely rough weeks of severe constipation, I accepted that despite having the body of a twenty-three year old, I have the digestive system of an 83 year old, and ordered a big tub of Metamucil. Previously, every trip to the bathroom was dreaded, yet I know avoiding the painful process would only make things harder (pun intended). However, after drinking a few surprisingly palatable glasses of this -- there's not really a taste, just a light 'earthiness' that's pretty much masked by the heaps of sugar they thankfully put in there -- I can say the trips became much more effortless, and especially painless in the hours following, which fellow chronic constipation sufferers will gladly explain, is when the hemorrhoids that you just irritated like to make you doubt the notion of ever sitting again. This is probably the easiest way to get a ton of fiber into your gut all at once. Yeah, maybe I should've done that in the first place with one of those silly "balanced diets", but I believed there's only three food groups you need to live: meat, diary, and multivitamins. Now I know better: it's important to get a stool softener in, too. With Metamucil, it's bye bye to vein-popping straining, no more praying to the gods to just take me now, and gone are the days of debating the benefit of a quick trip to the ER for surgery while seeing no other way this thing is going to get out of me on my own without it ripping me in two (hint: after a two hour long struggle, it did get out, and yes, it ripped). I mean, if you tell people you birthed a 10lb baby, people are impressed, but if you tell them you passed a 10lb poo thicker and harder than your forearm, they barely bat an eye. The world's population has no pity for the victims of constipation, but at least we have something of relief on our side. If you're sitting on the toilet right now, reading this product page and wondering if this will help you get on with your life today, well, probably not, shipping is going to take a few days. But if you're just getting up from the toilet and just regretting all of it as well the day ahead, try injecting little hardcore fiber into your diet with this butthole-saver.

Not sweet
Ive been taking Metamucil for years and works great. This one is no different, only the flavor took me off. I was used to the orangie flavor but this one is zero sugar and you can tell. At first the taste along with texture made it hard to consume. But after a few days I got used it. Not sure I would buy the no or low. Sugar version again , But one thing is for sure, Metamucil works and will continue to buy.

Unflavored original texture with sugar is the best!
I don't why the fake orange flavor is so popular. Unflavored is neutral and agreeable. Even with the sugar this product is very low glycemic index because the tiny amount of sugar is offset by the fiber.

Don't be fooled by Metamucil "store" and orange coloring on this label
Bought this as a mistake. In a rush and my re-order item was not available (the individual packets). Went to the "Metamucil store". Assumed the "store" would show all products. Nope. Only one real sugar item shown. Saw the orange colored glass on the label and thought it was the orange flavor. Didn't even know they made unflavored. Purchased. Arrived. Opened it, realized it's unflavored, cannot return. Went back to Amazon, avoided the "store" and searched real sugar Metamucil instead. Finally I see the orange flavored option. It's almost HALF the cost of this unflavored crap. So, my 3 star review is low due to the Metamucil brand store management. I think they are showing their most expensive products intentionally, trying to make people think the others aren't available, and thus driving sales of the more expensive products.

Good source of fiber

Excellent. Had the plain but had to add orange juice. The orange smooth works well and tastes nice.

Waiting to see results but I like the taste!

Everyone would benefit from a little extra fibre. I use with milk and instant coffee. No sugar needed.
