Derived from the ancient art of henna body painting, 31 designs offer exciting coloring challenges. The illustrations โ featuring exotic birds and butterflies, swirling paisley prints, and fabulous flowers โ are printed on a black background that creates dramatic effects. Pages are perforated and printed on one side only for easy removal and display. Specially designed for experienced colorists, Magical Mehndi Designs and other Creative Havenยฎ adult coloring books offer an escape to a world of inspiration and artistic fulfillment. Each title is also an effective and fun-filled way to relax and reduce stress. Review: Fabulous Artist! - This is the 2nd coloring book of Lindsey Boylan which I have purchased. Multifaceted artistry, more detailed than many coloring books. Pages are perforated, quality of paper works well for pencils or pens. Printed on one side only. The publisher, as I mentioned in the previous review for her books, is erratic in quality, thus the price. Some pictures are not centered, small details may be blurred, etc. The designs are so great I work around them, but can get frustrating. She needs a new publisher!!! I would be willing to pay more for her designs, with a better quality!!! Review: 31 Mehndi Style Designs with a black background โ printed on one side of the page - This is my third coloring book by Lindsey Boylan. In all three, she has utilized black backgrounds. I find that this style, along with the use of bright and pastel colors is a way to get a big pop of color. I am looking forward to coloring more designs in this book as I have enjoyed both of Ms. Boylan's previous books. The designs have a free-flowing and ornate look to them which is consistent with the style I have come to expect from this artist. I decided to do a seahorse as my first project. I used alcohol-based markers with bright tones on the seahorse and then gray and pink only on the surrounding design. I will include a photo of the finished project along with the two colored samples from the book. I will update with more project photos as I finish them in the future. This is what I found when going through this coloring book: 31 Designs in Mehndi style with black backgrounds Printed on one side of page Page is smooth and perforated. Has a different feel from other Creative Haven paper Glue Bound Designs merge past the perforations but nothing essential will be lost if you remove the page from the book Alcohol and water based markers bleed through to some degree While I don't plan to use these medium with my coloring book, I did test a variety of them to see how they worked with this paper: Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page Coloring pencils were mixed. The soft lead pencils laid down good color but blending did not work well. My wax-based pencils worked better than the oil-based. Hard lead pencils dented the back of the page. I removed my pages from the book but if you choose to keep your book together, I suggest a blotter page be used behind the working page to keep the rest of the book free from mars and seeping ink.

Pretty and detailed illustrations
Lovely illustrations on black backgrounds. Design goes edge to edge. No borders. I like it so far. Prefer black backgrounds to white.

Freakin' SWEET!
If Peter Griffin saw these, he'd yell, "FREAKIN' SWEET! GIMME!" then spill beer on it and pass out.Don't be Peter. Be you. Get a set of Write Bros neon markers and party down. You'll love your results and you'll be a LOT better off mentally spending the time on coloring a page rather than picking up a case of beer and having a chugging contest with Peter.Besides, you KNOW Peter will win anyhow.

Lots of colors made it more fun!
This was addicting! It also didn't take long to color. I was watching tv and finished it within a few hours. I didn't think I'd enjoy coloring with so many colors, but I was wrong. It just made it more fun to keep going. Sort of like doing a colorful puzzle. It's was boring. Thank you. So beautiful and relaxing.

Magical Mehndi Designs
This is a typical creative haven book. The pages are smooth and perforated, and the background of each is black, which is why I ordered it. A nice book of typical mandala type pictures, but nothing extraordinary. This is more for folks that like books with less difficulty.

Nice, paper is OK
Iโd like for the pages to be heavier, I like more of the card-stock type. I love the black background. Looks great with gel pens! Shipped fast
